My family and I took my mother in law to this restaurant for her birthday. I have been before. We ordered the garlic bread and tomato bread to begin with. It was beautiful. Such a thin base covered with buttery garlic and tomato. We also had bruschetta. It was really tasty. For mains I had the asparagus tagliatelle. It was bland, but the chef kindly re-jigged it to add chilli, garlic and more sauce. Nice atmosphere. Waiters are nice. One was very pushy though, he kept banging into my chair and always seemed to be in a rush. Otherwise great experience.

Service is exceptionally poor. I used to regularly eat here maybe 4 – 5 years ago before I moved abroad. I’m not sure if it’s changed owners in that time but the staff service is appalling. I was apart of a party of 8, out for a friends birthday, as it’s bring your own beer we naturally brought our own but we were fully aware we were to buy mixers from the restaurant. Three times we asked for a bottle opener and mixers over a 15 minute period and it took ever longer for the staff to take our order. I’ve worked in the service industry for many years previously and as it was a week night they were sufficiently staffed to attend to our table. The service continued to be slow throughout the night and at the end as we were a larger party we were stung with a 10% service charge(it’s added on for table of 5+). I was reluctant to pay it after the exceptionally slow service and witnessing a waiter and waitress argue next to our table about who would bring us a glass of ice for our wine. In addition to this the back fire exit next to the toilets were fully blocked by chairs, a clear fire hazard. The food was mediocre at best for the prices.

Ponte Di Legno — Eccellente! Another fantastic evening at Ponte Di Legno in Moseley, Birmingham with the boy. We decided to spread our wings a little from our usual(Taglietelle Ponte Di Legno — Taglietelle with strips of chicken in a cream and mushroom sauce) to make a change, even though that is an absolute winner! I went for the linguine with tiger prawns and mussels in a chilli and tomato sauce. The presentation was pretty impressive too. I expected the mussels to be shelled, but they kept it rustic. They(and the prawns) were large and juicy. The boy went for the fillet of beef stroganoff served with rice. He was equally impressed. Given that it was slightly more pricey(around 18 quid) he was a little wary, but when it came he was pleasantly surprised. The beef was succulent and really soft. It too, was rather pleasing on the eye. Get yourself down to Ponte Di Legno. While the atmosphere is bustling, with chitter chatter and laughter in the air, the food is good value and delicious. You can ‘take your own’ and it is a great place to dine with friends.

I decided to go to this restaurant because every time I pass in front it is always really crowded. I went there on a Thursday night and, despite being full, the service was fast and good. However, I found the athmosphere of the place a little bit uncomfortable. The light is really too strong and the décor of the place looks more like a cheap frech restaurant than an Italian restaurant. That being said, the food is really very good. I ordered a cheese ravioli which was amazing, but found the portion really small, and having just come back from Italy I can tell you small portions is the opposite of the Italian style! Despite the few shortcomings(probably highlighted by my high expectations given how busy it always is) I would definitely go back again, the quality of the food alone is worth it.

Ponte Di Legno is a great Italian restaurant that has established itself as one of the better food establishments in Moseley over the years. It gets extremely busy, even during the week, and reservations are highly recommended even for a table for two. It serves all the standard Mediterranean dishes and I can highly recommend their pasta dishes. They also have a la carte mains which can be quite expensive. However, the best reason to visit is for their wonderful stone baked pizzas, probably the most authentic in Birmingham. My personal favourite is the pizza fiorentina but all the pizzas are delicious. I don’t think the staff are traditionally Italian but this does seem to be a family run business and an evening here would be well spent.

I’m a big fan of food, in fact it’s one of the reasons I decided that writing reviews for Unilocal would be such an appealing pastime as it gives me the excuse to visit my favourite places, test out the menu and then give the Unilocal users my recommendations. Ponte Di Legno is most certainly a place I consider to be amongst my favourites with irresistible Italian cuisine which quite simply should not be missed! My personal recommendation would be one of their awesome Calzone’s which are monstrous in size and mouth watering in flavour, be warned if you are going to consume one of these then you are more than likely going to have to pass on the deserts and head straight for the after dinner coffee. This place is quite small, but that’s no negative as you get to eat in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere which is certainly preferable to a vast crowded room. The staff are good, the prices are competitive and the décor is up to the impeccable standard of Moseley in general, so there’s no excuse to miss Ponte Di Legno if you’re in Birmingham, if you do, you’ll regret it!

Some of the worst pizza i’ve ever had. Bland, bland, bland. Service was not particularly that good either. My wife and I had a pizza each. I had a chicken pizza and my wife had a pepperoni pizza. Both pizzas had other ingredients, but nothing that stands out as rememberable. There may be other ways to enjoys this restaurant that we didn’t experience during our visit. However, we will not be returning to experiment.

Off the main drag in Moseley, Ponte di Legno is owned by the same people as the delightful La Fibule Moroccan restaurant across the road. Inside, the restaurant is fairly intimate, and during most late evenings it tends to get rather full. The food is excellent traditional Italian fare, featuring a mouth-watering array of pastas, pizzas and meat dishes, as well as some exquisite desserts(you might find yourself wanting to go back there just to try out what you didn’t have room for the last time!) The staff are very friendly, and it’s not uncommon to have the lights dimmed and a cake wheeled out as the whole restaurant bursts into an impromptu«Happy Birthday». A quiet restaurant it is not, but for a small group out to get merry, this place is absolutely perfect.

Great food, lovely atmosphere(if rather noisy). Often a queue of people waiting outside on a Friday and Saturday night, testament to it popularity.(Definitely book!) Name means ‘Bridge of wood’ which must be a play on words because of its location(Woodbridge Road). Not licensed so bring your own or go to the off license across the road. If I had to think of a downside it would be that the tables are rather packed in, but then I guess id rather be crammed in than have no table at all.
