Muffin Break’s opposite the big stores like Topshop and Victoria’s Secret in the Bullring and many a time have I rested my sore, aching feet from a day of hard shopping at Muffin Break. The staff were clipped and quite rude on this trip. The muffins are located behind the counter meaning you have to peer over to see what you want. A member of staff said quite clipped to me «what do you want?» when I went to look and looked at me like I was crazy when I asked her for her recommendation. I don’t know about the rest of you Unilocalers but asking for the staff’s personal favourite isn’t a weird or unexpected question. I sat down feeling like I had made a snap decision on my order due to the staff’s rushed approach. However, the order was given to me very quickly and it was fairly cheap at £4.25 for a regular latte and a blueberry muffin. The muffin itself was tasty enough but was cold. I was expecting a warm muffin considering I was visiting at 10am, do they not bake their products every morning? All in all, probably will visits Druckers a couple of stores down next time. A little bit more expensive but worth it.

I will recommend the homemade pasta slice which is really yummy, my eye was caught by it as I was walking past. The banana cake was okay, the icing was lovely but the cake itself didn’t really taste of anything. The prices are reasonable and competitive. My one complaint is the music is way too loud for a coffee shop. I know I sound old saying that but I struggled to hear my friend!

This café is situated within the Bull Ring shopping centre and is place that I have had a pit stop in a couple of times now. There is seating inside the café and outside by the walkways of the shopping centre so you can recharge your batteries with a drink or some food. You can also take away your items. They serve a variety of hot and cold drinks, savoury wraps, savoury and sweet muffins, cookies and cakes. The cake portions are huge — enough for sharing I would say but if you have a sweet tooth you probably won’t struggle with polishing it off! The hot chocolate here is too notch — lovely and hot none of this luke warm wishy washy kind of stuff with marshmallows on the side and the muffins are filling and tasty. The staff here are friendly too and provide service with a smile. They stay open until 8pm Tuesday — Saturday which is great for when you fancy a drink or a snack when other places are shut.

There is one important thing that makes Muffin Break different from most of the other similar chains that I have tried — It is one of the very few places I have found that actually bakes fresh wheat free muffins. And they are delicious! Forget the poor wheat free prepackaged offerings from your local supermarket. The wheat free muffins at Muffin Break are fresh and delicious. The only disappointing thing is that so far they only do one flavour which is chocolate chip & banana. Of course they also do a large range of regular(not wheat free) cakes and muffins as well as the usual teas coffees and hot chocolate etc. It’s a great place to sit out on the tables out the front with a coffee and muffin and people watch the bullring shoppers.
