This is a Morrisons Local, so it’s kind of aimed at the workers in the area more than the residents. Much of the space is given over to grab-and-go food and so on. The advantage is a pretty impressive salad bar which is really good value, and lots of sandwiches. The back of the store with the non-perishables etc is small but they somehow managed to squeeze in most things you need-even tin openers, shoe polish etc. I hate the self checkouts Morrisons use. In most other shops they’re annoying, but standardised. In fact, they’re really similar in North America and the UK. Except Morrisons. They chose the equivalent of Betamax instead of VHS, or Symbian over Android/iOS. You put your basket to the left, scan and then put your item on a shelf above your basket. Space saving, yes, but awkward. The coin acceptor is a retro rolling belt and the note acceptor continues to terrify me. You have to push the note so deep that I’m always convinced it’s going to suck my fingers in with it. So…go for the salad. Be like me and squeeze as much as you can into a large tray. So much food! My other top tip is the bakery white chocolate and raspberry cookies. They’ve helped me to become the very chubby person I am today…

So glad there is a Morrison on New Street. Very difficult to walk by with the salad bar inside. Morrisons are the best for freshly made and there ham and egg sandwich is one of my favourite sandwiches. Whats great is they do have a section of their bakery range and its always good to pop in and see what they have. On Saturday I went in and they had five mixed rolls reduced to 50p, bargiain!
