Hmm must admit I was a little disappointed. I had heard such great things about the café but wasn’t really convinced. Think the atmosphere in there is a little like a hospital canteen, it’s just this massive space but in my opinion the could do more with it. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming but it took them 30 mins to bring 2 coffees and I had to ask for it twice(after already having paid). Maybe it was an unlucky day

What a beautiful cute coffee house. I met our lovely community leader Dan here for a coffee or 2. The staff were very smiley and friendly. The bathroom was clean. Café latte was very nice. I would recommend this café.

I visited this place earlier today with Chandni L and was very impressed with the place. As i’m sure most of you know I am a big fan of coffee especially on Mondays… The café if really well laid out with beautiful looking food on the counter tops including salad items, sandwiches and cakes. Todays visit was more about coffee and a catch up however so I went for one of my usual options, a white americano. I really liked the way the milk even for an americano was served hot and sugar is given to you in a pot with tongs to pick up the cubes. Small touches like this really help a place stand out among the mass of options we have to now grab a caffeinated beverage in the city centre. The staff here are fantastic and obviously take a lot of pride in what they do. A great start to the week and a place I will definately return to.

Beautiful cakes and pastries. Great for brunch. They also do a great afternoon tea, though best to book in advance. Charming atmosphere, though sometimes it might be over looked as its s but tucked away in the cube. Great place to go to cheer yourself up on a rainy day:)

Friendly service and lovely people. We ordered scrambled eggs with bacon and eggs florentine — scrambled eggs was good value for money, florentine probably could be cheaper for the amount you get. Food overall was tasty and presented differently which was good. Coffee and drinks range from 1,50 — 2,90 pound. Free wifi available by asking at the counter.

I love the cakes here. I’ve been here for afternoon tea, but I’m often here picking up cakes to take away, or meeting friends for coffee. Everything is freshly made through the night so there is nothing stale on offer during the day. If you have dietary requirements and want afternoon tea, then book at least a day in advance here and let them know. The team here are great at coming up with good options. There are also salads, and sandwiches that are available too. It is a little pricey, but the cakes are worth it.

Exquisite cakes. Madeleine is a wonderful little patisserie sitting on the edge of the cube in the mailbox with it’s rustic wooden style sitting in stark contrast to the sharp lines of the cube. For me Madeleine is all about the cakes, they are the best I’ve had in Birmingham by quite a margin. Made on site daily they are always rotating, in all the times I’ve been there I have never had the same thing twice, the only consistent element being that they are always completely delicious and highly refined. As for the rest, the staff are always cheerful and friendly, the coffee is of decent quality but chosen, I think, to complement the cakes so it is quite a mellow blend and they offer a range of savoury options including a nice fresh salad bar.

I love this little place in the Cube. Sure theres better places to get coffee but I can’t think of anywhere better to have cake! The cakes are amazing. Freshly baked throughout the day and not just your standard cupcakes. Fruit tarts, crumbles, pastries, cheesecake, all amazing quality. I’d recommend popping in for breakfast too. It’s not cheap but the scrambled eggs are a treat. Coffee, teas etc are fine but that’s not what I go for. They’ve done a great job of decorating with wooden panels and floorboards, beautiful chairs and tables and well displayed food. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic about the food. I spotted that they do afternoon tea now! Will definitely have that for a special occassion. Cakes and coffee for two is around £10-£15 depending what you have.

I loved this little place. It had a homely and warm feel to it. There are lots of lovely food options — brunch type options that are serve until 3pm, homemade cakes, baguettes, panini, scrambled eggs on toast, omelettes… there are a good variety of hot and cold beverages too. Their hot chocolate was good even if a little sickly towards the end. Unfortunately they had run out of soup of the day so I decided to have a panini with buffalo mozzarella, beef tomatoes and pesto all served in a brown healthy panini with a side salad. It was a good choice and really filled me up. My friend had a omelette with toast which also looked good. You have to go up to the counter to order your food(no biggy) and the food was speedy to come out. The staff aim to please and provide service with a smile. I recommend taking away a slice of homemade cake!

I visited after I heard it had opened, thought I’d give it a try with a friend. We first tried the salad that was on offer. Oh my, it was a delight. Freshly made and served from a deli counter. I highly recommend a visit to try their food. Now, on to the negatives. We then had a coffee, it was possibly the worst coffee I have ever tried. My friend decided to speak to a member of staff about the quality of the coffee. They had recently opened to feedback and criticism can do them some good. They changed our coffee for a fresh mint tea, which was lovely. The waiter came to check on us after a little while and offered us a free coffee made with a different bean to try, we accepted the offer. Again, the bean was terrible, better than the first, but it had a very bad after-taste. When asked what the blend was, they were made with mostly robusta beans. We gave feedback, had a little English language barrier with the staff in the meantime, they then offered us two free espresso shots of two other beans, we found these equally as bad. I have to thank them for their time to try to resolve what may be wrong, we recommend they source beans from elsewhere. On our exit we looked at the fresh bread on offer. They are presented beautifully. We enquired about the breads, and asked when they were baked. We were told they are imported from a London bakery and baked a couple of days before, we were lost at that point. We bought a some to try, it wasn’t the freshest of bread.
