Food was tasty but lacked character to give it much more than 3 stars. Would pop by again to feed my Italian urges but with the amount of choice around Brindley Place I could find better elsewhere.

What a shame! Having had reliably good service at other Carluccio restaurants, I have now found one that definitely doesn’t live up to the standard I have previously experienced. Rude, stressed and inattentive staff who seemed to be having issues with each other. Food was OK and the coffee was good. Thankfully it was a one off visit as a visitor to Birmingham.

A good place to eat Italian food. The pasta tastes good.

It’s very Christmassy in there, very cosy, you get some really fresh food in there and the staff was lovely too

I’ve eaten in a few times and also ordered via Deliveroo on several occasions too, so clearly I like this place. It’s classy but not too expensive and the quality is there. Tables are well presented with everything crisp and tidy. Pasta as you’d probably expect is always good, perfectly cooked. Service is smart too. The deli side is very attractive but pricey and I’ve never bought anything as yet. Recommended.

Amongst Brindley Place’s bars and restaurants you can find Carluccios which is an Italian restaurant in a cosy atmosphere. The shop window is filled with lovely meringues and delicious looking tarts. Going into the back you will be seated in a modern restaurant. A menu offering Pasta, Meat & Seafood courses will guide you through the night. My tip — don’t forget to try the Meringue with a passion fruit cream and fresh raspberries!

L’endroit est très populaire auprès des locaux. La nourriture et le vin né sont pas décevants ! Il existe une formule à 11£ avec entrée + plat. Allez-y sans crainte… de préférence après avoir réservé une table !

Great after show diner on a Saturday night, for a party of 5 with no booking. The menu offers a large choice and so does the wine list. Mozza was good, perhaps they could offer some buffala! Waiters were nice and made sure we had a great experience!

I’ve heard mixed review about this chain, but I have always really enjoyed my visits the Brindley Place branch. The window is so inviting, with the larger meringues and cakes in the window. The small shop inside selling pasta, cakes and sauces always looks so appetising. The restaurant itself is clean and bright an simply decorated. The service has always been very efficient and the staff very friendly. On this visit I only had the buffalo mozzarella salad, but requested black olives instead of capers-that was no problem at all and tasted delicious. My friends all had main courses and thoroughly enjoyed their food too, although we did find it funny how much the waiter was pushing us to buy bread, even though the dishes already came with bread! Great atmosphere. I would go again happily.

Carluccios is located in the Brindley Place complex surrounded by gorgeous bars which are perfect for some after drinks. Although this has become a chain, this particular restaurant oozes individuality and is a great destination if you’re looking to take that special someone on a date. If you’re walking to Brindley Place from the city centre I recommend you cut through Symphony Hall as you’ll walk over the bridge and the canal will be glistening from the lights in the aligned bars — how romantic! When you arrive in the restaurant, you will be pleasantly surprised by the Italian atmosphere which is often lost with Italian chains such as Pizza Hut! The waiters were dressed smartly which contributed to the relaxed yet stylish vibe. We shared the Tagliata Di Manzo which is a large steak served with potatoes and a red pepper sauce. I’ve never shared a steak before but it was ideal for a romantic date and cooked to perfection.

This is the only Carluccio’s in the West Midlands and it is a welcome addition to the Birmingham foodie scene. It manages the tricky feat of being a chain restaurant with consistently excellent food and service whilst retaining a warm and friendly atmosphere. It is always a busy place, with a happy mix of party groups, first dates and after-work diners. The pasta dishes are superb, as is to be expected. I’m also a big fan of the little dishes of Italian nibbles, especially the bread tin and the huge Puglian olives. The fried pasta crisps are quite novel and well worth a try. There is a set menu, offering two courses for £9.95. They also have great gluten free choices and a children’s menu totally free of the dreaded chicken nuggets and chips! The front of the restaurant acts as an informal café and shop area, with tempting cakes and delicious Italian groceries on sale.

I know Carluccio’s is a big chain but when a big chain does something well then it needs a pat on the back too. Not many big chains that specialise in one cuisine remember that some basic ingredients have a readily available Gluten Free option, Carluccio’s does. Yay, I can eat Italian out with my friends. With my own special menu, I just have to ask for it upon entering, I know exactly what I can order without an interrogation of any staff and the food is super yummy. What’s even better is that the Gluten Free pasta they use I can buy in their little deli shop, and I can honestly say its the best Gluten Free pasta I’ve tasted, well it is made in Italy. The restaurant is modern and relaxed. They offer quick bites too for the lunch crowd and there is often yummy treats from cakes to monster meringues you can buy as well. I love Carluccio’s.

I went here on a Sunday evening as I thought it would be a nice way to wind down from the weekend. The restaurant was busy and our waiter was rushed off his feet, but still managed to take care of our needs in an exemplary manner. In fact, the waiter was a credit to the business and I feel bad that I didn’t note his name. The food was delicious, I highly recommend the trio of pasta platter, the portion sizes are excellent and the pasta is delicious. My dining partner wanted to try the sea bass but sadly they were out of it(it must be good in that case!) Jack666 mentioned that the lighting was too bright, but I disagree, I thought it was pitched just right and the food(as I have already mentioned) was great. I can’t complain about Carluccios and I would recommend it to any of my friends. In fact, my friend and I made a pact to return in the New Year so that he could sample the sea bass!

Five of us were looking for breakfast this morning and happened across Carluccio’s in Brindley Place. I’d been to the Stratford-upon-Avon branch once and was disappointed, but the Birmingham outlet was better by far. Our satisfaction was largely as a result of being served by Kara who had a briliant friendly smile and a great attitude. The Colazione Magnifica(choice of free range eggs with grilled smoky pancetta, sautéed mushrooms, tomato and toasted Italian bread, Coffee or tea and a fresh juice) was enjoyed by all of us and probably worth every penny of the £9.75 versus what we’d forgone at our very dodgy Hagley Road hotel for £1 less. One of us will be writing to the management about Kara, though. She made ordering our food fun and delivered it with style and a smile. A great asset to the business.

I recently visited this restaurant as I was impressed by the window display and wanted a change from the usual restaurants in Brindley Place/Broad Street area. However, once in, my opinion did change. Décor fairly retro/modern but the lighting… made you feel like you were in a dentist’s or doctor’s surgery; far too bright. Not sure if it was this or the seating arrangements which led this eatery to be devoid of any atmosphere. Food…distinctly average… nothing exciting about it… no wow factor at all… Wine was good(thankfully). Coffee was lukewarm. Service was attentive. Also, vegetarians be warned… don’t be hungry if you try this place… I so wanted to enjoy this place but left feeling very disappointed. I wouldn’t rush to go back.
