Caffe Uno

We visited on the Friday afternoon of the Royal Wedding, so it was quite quiet. Having never visited before I wasn’t too sure of what to expect (having experienced many let-​downs at Italian restaurants in London), however, the food and service were excellent. Our waitress (very pretty with short dark hair) was impeccably well-​mannered, attentive, and very well-​informed. The food was beautifully presented with fresh, high quality, ingredients. Highly recommended.

Caffe Uno, in case you haven’t been, is a chain of Italian restaurants that strives for authenticity in everything from the menu options being written in Italian, to the traditional piped into its restaurants, and even (I believe) the nationality of its chefs.
It’s hard to go wrong with Italian food, since there’s something for almost everyone. This means Café Uno, which is located in a part of the city centre populated largely by law firms and recruitment consultants, enjoys a roaring trade during lunch hours and the early evening.
There is a good selection of antipasti, pizza, pasta and risotto, with side orders that include garlic ciabatta (as opposed to the uninspired garlic bread you find in many places), salads and fries. The food is tasty and well-​presented, although the whole place is a little on the pricey side (£2 for a tiny glass of cranberry juice?!). The staff are polite and attentive, and although I’ve heard horror stories about messed up orders and poor staff attitude, I experienced none of this and thus advise you exercise an open mind.
Due to it being comparatively expensive, this isn’t the kind of place you can go for a regular lunch, unless you’re on a date or taking a client out for a meal. Compared to other Italian restaurant chains, and even some independents I have been to, Caffe Uno is a good choice for some decent Italian grub.

22 Feb Monday night about 6pm had a really decent dinner nice hot pizzette with lots of rosemary and garlic good chilled house white and a really tasdty unctious spaghetti carbonara lots of sauce to dip in with my bread very nice 17.00 could not fault staff or service finished off wih a moch very nice would definatley return was a pre theatre dinner so tming was good this is a bit of a gem that i wont forget again satnav
