Could not have a worse time here if i tried! Altogether i’ve been here around eight times or so and all of which have been awful. I’ve always wnated to avoid this place after the first time i went here but quite a few friends of mine have chosen it as their birthday venue so i’ve had to tag along. The majority of people are unsavoury and not exactly giving off friendly vibes inside. I had my iphone stolen inside, told the staff and managers and all they could do was offer me two bottles of free(very cheap) champagne, not to look at the CCTV or call the police. The music is beyond dated in here and the night wouldn’t be complete without seeing a few girls pulling out eachothers hair in the toilets. Vile place.

Risa is a huge venue, and if you haven’t been there before you can get easily confused with the layout. They have different rooms providing different genres of music, however, these rooms are not always filled with customers and people, which tends to happen every time I go. This can be both a negative and positive aspect as you and your party of friends can jam and dance out as a group without the interruptions of bumping into people or knocking over drinks. Or if you’re in a small group looking for fun with new people then this isn’t really the place to pay to get in to. The downstairs area can get quite crowded as well as the smoking area but as someone that has been to Risa, I wouldn’t recommend paying five pounds to enter this place as I wouldn’t find many people around my age range there anyway.

Not the best place to visit on Broad Street, but from past experience, a fairly good last resort. Costing a fiver to get in on a Friday, the bar will either be ridiculously busy, or uncomfortably empty. Recently, it seems to have become increasingly busy and with drink prices reasonable in comparison to some place on Broad Street, I can see why. The music is fairly predictable as is becoming customary on Broad Street, with a mixture of top 40 hits combined with some old club classics, not that anyone is complaining. Overall, with Risa, you know what you’re getting and In all honesty I probably would recommend it, as a refreshing alternative to some of the places on Broad Street.

A good bar and dance club with a younger crowd. My Friday night in here was OK, but not the best. The crowd is slightly younger, although you also get young working people in here, it was a bit of a disappointment, especially hearing friends raving about the place, I didn’t think that it was all that. It has several rooms, and I did get a little lost trying to find my bearings. The drinks aren’t cheap, but for a Broad St bar, they are on the high end. Overall, a good mix of music, and it does get busier in here later into the night, when you have to pay to get in. OK for finding a quick bar for a thirst quenching drink, or a nice night out with your mates, but I think I’ll give this one a miss next time. Considering the huge selection of bars alongside this one, who pull in larger crowds, your better off going elsewhere.

If you’re new to the city then going out on Broad Street is an experience on its own! Recognised as the student strip full of drunken chants and fancy dress, depending on what night you go it can often be a little overwhelming if you prefer the finer things in life. That aside, if you just want to go out and get drunk whilst dancing to chart remixes then you’ve come to the right place! Bar Risa is probably the best bet if you’re looking to go for a drink where all the actions at. Although the crowd is mainly students, there are also groups of non-student /professional types who are also out for a good night. The venue itself has a whopping 7 bars and 6 rooms so you’ll have fun just running around being drunk and dancing to everything from cheesy pop to trance music. Good venue for nights out with work as there’s bound to be something for everyone.

This familiar upbeat club of my weekends slowly declined some years ago and the same tedious Saturday nights began to grind on me. I re-visited Bar Risa for the first time in over three years. There were some slight alterations to the layout but that’s not what caught my attention; it was the mood of the nightclub that did. I thoroughly enjoyed my night, it’s not the cheapest but I feel it has now regained the crown of Broad Street with Walkabout rarely changing theme or crowd. This bar has six rooms and costs only five pound in, I’m already debating a second visit in quick succession. I started drinking elsewhere prior to Risa to help save money and get myself to the stage of not caring how the beer or cider tastes as they don’t serve the best pints.
