I hadn’t heard the term«froyo» until a few months ago as it’s a fairly new concept here in Northern Ireland. The first frozen yoghurt shop, Spoon Street, opened at the end of last year in east Belfast. Fast forward a few months and Yogland opened on the Lisburn Road in July. I’d never visited Spoon Street so my first froyo experience was when I visited Yogland. The idea is that you get a tub, fill it up with as many, or as little, different flavours of frozen yoghurt as you like, and then pile on different toppings– ranging from fruit, cereals and popcorn, right up to Rainbow Drops, chocolate and fizzy sweets! You then pay according to the weight of your ‘masterpiece’. I went for 2 flavours of froyo– Red Velvet and Hazelnut and then had fun topping it with a mixture of Resse’s pieces and jelly and fizzy sweets! Yum– I loved it! The total bill for four of us was around £14 so roughly £3.50 each. A bit dearer than, say, a ‘poke’ but a great novelty

This is the first frozen yogurt experience I have had. It looked confusing as there is such a variety; it’s hard to decide which flavours to pick. I got apple&strawberry and watermelon. The amount of toppings available is incredible. I was literally like the proverbial kid in a sweet shop. The yogurt tasted great and it’s healthier than icecream so if your on a diet just get some protein and it’s not cheating; unless your like me and get a million toppings which consisted of: cheerios, pecans, jellies, white buttons etc. I would highly recommend this place if your looking a chilled out night or even a date ;)

Yogland is an interesting addition to the lisburn rd. There have been a few froyo places in Belfast, but it hasn’t really taken off over here. With the new healthy twist, via protein shake style yogurt, Yogland may be here to stay…

I’ve been wanting to try Yogland for ages and today was the day to do so, whilst out and about on a lazy Sunday. Thus I dropped in to investigate. I’m delighted to see Yogland selling a couple of dairy free frozen sorbets. They taste just like ice cream — lush. Currently Tropical and Watermelon flavours are on offer. Therefore if you partake in these, topped with fresh fruit you can treat yourself to a bit of indulgence without feeling too guilty. I’m all about the hedonism. They’re fat free, sugar free and gluten free, not quite sure what they’re made from but I’m guessing soya and fruits. Nonetheless such frozen, creamy sorbets are perfect for anyone following a particular diet. Yogland has upstairs seating, an array of games such as Jenga, Connect 4, Hungry Hippo and Operation etc to keep both kids and adults amused. In addition to the self service frozen yogurts they offer a range of other foods including granola and acai breakfast bowls, pancakes, crepes, waffles, smoothies, coffees and teas. With the free wifi, cool if slightly dark interior(I’m not sure about those BLUE walls!) and relaxed ambience — I’m glad I don’t live on the Lisburn Road — cause if I did I’d never be outta Yogland…

Yogland is the newest frozen yogurt place in Belfast and it is a pretty cool place. It is a self service place and the choice of flavours is vast. I decided on a little bit of everything. The next stage is to choose your toppings. You can go for fresh fruit, chocolate sprinkles, cookies, gummy bears and many, many more. When it comes to the price it is all done by weight and it is not the cheapest frozen desert in town. As much as I like frozen yogurt I don’t know if it will be more than a once in a while treat for me.

I was sadly disappointed with Yogland on my visit here last week after expecting great things given my love for FRO-YO and the booming business across town at a similar establishment but unfortunately Yogland did not live up to this(despite getting to rub shoulders with my man-crush Tommy Bowe). The selection is vast of yoghurt flavours and sweetie toppings and the frozen yoghurt is packed full of protein and healthy things but if you think about it, it’s a bit silly using this as their USP or a reason to go as at the end you cover the frozen yoghurt with fizzy sweets, chocolate, gummy bears or other equally sugary delights!!! Don’t get me wrong it’s wasn’t all bad, the staff were all friendly and the upstairs sitting area was nice with several tables and sofas but the actual frozen yoghurt product was a let down for me… Unlike other establishments, the frozen yoghurt was melting a lot in the tub and at the end I had a horrible watery mess at the bottom of the tub. I had the raspberry flavour, the lemon sorbet, hazelnut and strawberry and only really would sample the lemon sorbet flavour again. Sadly, much to my disappointment, it is just not as good as other yoghurt places in Belfast and VERY similar.

A fantastic addition to the Lisburn Road — I’ve a feeling I’ll be spending a lot of time here! You go in and choose your size of tub, then self-serve whatever flavour(s) of frozen yogurt you want in your tub — there are many to choose from, both plain flavours and also quirky ones. I went for natural frozen yogurt, green apple flavoured, and red velvet yogurt, and loved them all! My husband was a big fan of the lemonade flavour. You then choose your toppings, and there is a selection of fruit, sweets, chocolate, and lots more. Just a warning though — you pay by weight, so don’t over-do it too much! The staff were friendly and helpful. There is a seating area upstairs with some soft seats which is nice. Recommended!
