I’ve only been in here once and only had a chip on my way to kickboxing. So figured I’d at least burn them off. But anyway back to review. The chips were tasty, crisp and not greasy. So if you too wanted to get a chip before going to kickboxing, then I would recommend the bethany. As is is only round the corner from kickboxing.

Sometimes you just need a pastie supper. That is the way of the world, and for me it is usually after a feed of beers the night before, and you can do a whole lot worse than this old boy of the Belmont Road. Recently having undergone a facelift, it is bright and clean, and while you aren’t going to get fine-dining service(it is a chippie after all) it will be quick and substantial. It does all the usual fishy favourites and burgers, and if you can’t face the queue on a Saturday night or face getting out of your pyjamas they deliver, and you can keep your diet shame to yourself!

Food is great but the service is awful. As per other comments the customer service is terrible and leaves a lot to be desired.

Based on the Belmont road this place is quite a typical little chippy. It does the standard stuff very well(burgers, fish and what not). Although a little observation would be that customer service is mainly limited to ‘whats yers love?”. One does feel very loved in this shop due to the lady at the counter calling every one love! I’ve been here a couple of times by accident because the kebab shop down the road was closed and I wasn’t left disappointed. Its decently priced and is a 6 out of 10 in the chipper scale. A fine choice for your saturday night treat in front of Simon Cowell’s dominance.

The Belmont Bethany is generally regarded as a safe bet for your fish and chip requirements, having built a name for itself over the many years it’s been open. It’s certainly a solid chippie, but that’s about it really. I’m not a huge fan of fish and chips. Well, more so the fish aspect, but I don’t often venture into these sorts of takeaways(give me a Chinese any day). Having said that, I know a good chip or two when I see one, and the Bethany’s aren’t half bad. Last time I popped in, I decided to be a tad adventurous and opt for a burger, which was pretty good. I certainly have no complaints in relation to the food. However, the staff are another thing altogether. I understand they’re under pressure, but they were really quite rude and ill-mannered…no smiles to be had at all. I was asked several times what my order was, as the lady couldn’t hear me, and the team just generally seemed quite irritable. I’ll put it down to being overworked and busy, simply because the place was pretty hectic that evening. You could definitely do worse than The Belmont Bethany, but you could also do a bit better.
