Poor old JD’s has went downhill a bit, basically the grub isn’t what it once was, as mentioned in other reviews, the battered sausages are just mushy, it’s as if the oil isn’t hot enough, got a burger and it was lukewarm at best, and honestly it’s not a cheap way to eat any more. I also ordered through Just Eat and although it is sent from the Ballyhackamore branch, I wouldn’t recommend it as it… A.) Took over an hour to be delivered to Sydenham. B.) Was stone cold. C.) Cost over £2 for delivery. Seriously guys, you’ve dropped the ball big time.

As chippys go, I always find John Dory’s to be decent quality food. They do lunch time deals, OAP offers too. I wouldn’t say that JD’s is cheap but no chippys are these days. Gone are the days when you could get a fish supper, 2 pasties and a battered sausage for about a fiver! You’ll probably spend about £6 on a supper of sorts.

This place used to have the best chicken burgers & southern fried chicken around. Then they either got lazy or cheap(or both) & now the chicken is easily the worst in Belfast. As are their chips. And their gravy/curry(thick brown tasteless sludge). Plus the batter they use is like wallpaper paste and very, VERY rarely is it crispy(order the battered sausages and see). The beef burgers seem to have remained untouched but are as unremarkable as any other low-grade chippys are. For a place that likes to boast about how well it does in chippy competitions every year it leaves me wondering, «how?!». Is Sepp Blatter one of the judges???
