Ryan’s is a nice wee bar for a quiet drink. It does get a bit taken over by students but the food here is great. Service is excellent and usually can get a table pretty quickly. They offer the occasional pub quiz which is always good crack.

Went to Ryan’s bar for dinner this week with my wife, they had an offer of 2 courses for £10 which we decided to take advantage of, so for starters I had a ceaser salad which consisted of lettuce, chicken, ham and parmesan. It was very nice but a bit heavy for a starter. For mains I had a cumberland sausage on a bed of champ again tasted very good but was not able to finish as I was so full. Ryan’s is a nice place to go for dinner and has a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. I would recommend it, although when I go again I’ll maybe go for a main and then dessert as the starters were so heavy.

I’ve been in Ryan’s a few times but hadn’t been in a while until tonight. We stopped by for some dinner — the food is served upstairs while the general bar is downstairs, I think it’s good that they are separate. The seating was good and the staff were friendly and attentive, and service was quick. The bar has a great offer of two courses for £10 — considering that a lot of the mains are almost £10, it means you’re pretty much getting a free starter or dessert. You should note that a few items aren’t available in this deal, but most are. I went for soup of the day to start(today’s was tomato and basil) — served with wheaten bread, followed by half chicken with champ for main. The food was tasty though not the best I’ve ever had. It is quite filling — we found the starters very filling and would maybe go for a dessert instead if we were there again. There are a range of cocktails available — I didn’t try any this time, but the menu did look quite cool. The menus and décor are quite quirky. I also like the idea of the quiz nights that Ryan’s sometimes hold and they have different themes, though I’ve never been. Overall — worth a visit for some grub or a drink.

It’s a grand wee bar, there’s zero chance of finding anyone pretentious. Great for a couple of drinks or a catch up. Very down to earth, yet it’s very clean with quite a lively atmosphere.

Ryan’s is a bit of a cult bar in the Lisburn Road. It seems to divide opinion with some people loving it and some feeling completely ambivalent towards it. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it so I thought I’d pop down for some chicken wings on Friday. Ryan’s is quite a quirky place, they are known for their themed quiz nights and their clever advertising. For instance the cocktails are named after viral YouTube videos. The bar itself is decorated by Banksy prints and other local surreal art. We sat in the upstairs restaurant and for a Friday afternoon it was relatively quiet. Having heard so much about Ryan’s chicken wings I had to see what all the fuss was about. I ordered small wings which were £4.95 — for this I got around 15 and to be honest I was still hungry when I stripped them to the bone. I didn’t rate the wings — they didn’t have too much meat on them and the sauce was quite vinegary. The bar and the staff are great, the lady who was looking after us was excellent — the food was prompt and the service was amazing. I am definitely going to go back to Ryan’s to try something different on the menu and maybe enjoy a cold pint.

Ryan’s is a great spot for a few social ones after work or before a night on the tiles. I would suggest a portion of the chicken wings as well but be warned its hard to stop at one helping! Chilled atmosphere that caters for everyone.

Just popped in for the annual Father Ted Quiz(if you’ve not seen it before Google it and thank me later). The place was packed though there we’re ample staff to serve the eclectic mix of punters. We managed to find one seat by the bar, enough to drape our coats over so we could enjoy our drinks. There is an upstairs which serves food and although I didn’t get to sample it this time around, I will make a point of getting some next time. Staff were very friendly and even took our drink order when changing a keg, then called us when it was ready, which in a bar as busy as it was is a rare act of great customer service. I’ve never spent a great deal of time in this particular part of Lisburn road for food and drink. That appears to be something I may need to remedy in the not too distant future.

Great food excellent prices and small but inexpensive wine list. I would happily go back here. The chicken wings were fantastic as was the burger. The desserts were also really good and service was accommodating. This place is a little bit away from the centre of town but well worth the trip.

When you text someone to tell them that you’re going for pints in Ryan’s, on predictive text it comes up as ‘Riots in swamp’. Just for info. Downstairs in Ryan’s is a lovely friendly bar which is particularly nice for afternoon pints. It’s is great for bigger groups of people meeting up, as the seats and tables can all be dragged together. I’m sure this is a bit of a nightmare for the staff who have to rearrange it again at the end of the evening, but they never complain. The food is decent and with local overtones, being one of the few places where you can try a variety of different boxty pancakes, a traditional Irish treat. My favourite Ryan’s experience is to order the spicy chicken wings with blue cheese dip and set your mouth on fire. Celery never tasted so good as when it’s cooling your mouth down after these fiery little morsels. Be sure to give your mouth a good wipe afterwards though– those boys are messy.

This is one of my favourite eateries in all of Belfast. I love the upstairs restaurant, the décor and the ambiance. I also love the massive painting on the stairwell as you ascend — it is awesome! A girl I know works here and she got us the best table, a corner booth with views out onto the Lisburn. We had a traditional Northern Irish treat of a boxty — basically a potato and scallion pie — it was very nice indeed. We also had a tasty selection of tapas style nibbles — onion rings, wings, garlic bread and ribs. Really tasty food. Downstairs they have a wide variety of entertainment events on throughout the week including an open mic type event where you get the mic for ten minutes and if you agree to do comedy, impressions, sing or just entertain you get free beer! happy days I say now pass me that mic!

Ryan’s is a bar and restaurant owned by Botanic Inns and situated on the Lisburn Road. Before the company took over this place, it was known as the Four In Hand, which wasn’t much more than a spit & sawdust joint, frequented by a handful of old regulars. Now, though, it has been transformed into a modern, snazzy place with a cracking menu and a very relaxed vibe, offering awesome steaks. Mine has to be charred on the outside, but still leaning towards rare in the middle, and Ryan’s never disappoints. Ryan’s is also famous for their spicy chicken wings and rightly so. A lot of chefs are too scared to be cavalier with their chilli, but not here. I absolutely love them, even though they come close to the upper limit of my tolerance level. The sticks of celery and gorgeous blue cheese dip they’re served with do their bit to cool proceedings down though. Well worth a try, even just for a pint and a bowl of their chicken wings, which will set you back the impressive charge of six quid.

On a wet Monday evening the restaurant upstairs in Ryan’s is a good place for a relaxing meal. The menu is straightforward — plenty of steak, ribs, lamb etc — but I opted for boxty filled with bacon and sausage. I wasn’t sure how the boxty would appear but it’s like a potato pancake, in this case a little leathery but altogether it was a tasty meal. and good comfort food on the nights when it’s horrible outside. My partner had champ and sausage which was much enjoyed. Though the main course was fine the starter was better — bruschetta with warm goats cheese and especially commendable for the fresh basil and basalmic vinegar. You can rely on Ryan’s for reasonable value and decent though maybe not utterly outstanding food. Still the comfortable surroundings, good value and pleasant staff means it’s somewhere I’d happily return anytime.

Ryan’s is a fantastic pub situated ideally on the Lisburn road still within comfortable walking distance to the city centre and student quarter! The bar itself is very traditional in décor and they have an upstairs restaurant. We popped in here one night as a foursome for some grub and were pleasantly surprised by the prices! At the time they had an offer on of two starters and two mains for £25. This included steaks! So of course, we went for this and the food was superb! We had spicy chicken wings and on prawn cocktail to start, and all was perfect. Then four huge steaks followed with all the trimmings! The meat was perfectly cooked and the service faultless. We often come in here just for afew drinks too and the atmosphere is really great as are the pints! Ryan’s is win win for me!

I’ve only been in here once I think, and I remember nearly going once for dinner, but there were no tables so we had to leave. That doesn’t mean it’s bad though, it’s just that I don’t really find myself on the Lisburn Road that much. The one time I was there, I loved the atmosphere about the place, and the time I didn’t go, I was totally raging since so many people had told me how great the food was! Oh, I’m in the mood for it now. Guess where I’ll be this weekend!

Located down the Lisburn Road, Ryan’s is a special little place and is a must for any tourists visiting Belfast whether it is for a day or a week. Ryan’s downstairs boasts a very enjoyable and friendly traditional atmosphere, with nice staff and tasty food. It was the perfect place during the Six Nations as it takes sport very seriously and the atmosphere could not have been bettered by any where else. You should definitely try the chicken wings too which come with a pint for £6.95. There also is a quiz night on Wednesdays which is much more difficult than you may first think and definitely recommend it to anyone who seeks an alternative night out. There are quizzes on Mondays and live music on Thursdays, guaranteeing you will find something of interest to keep you there all evening. Upstairs is the best part. The restaurant upstairs has a number of offers, particularly on their steak which is an absolute delight to try and I definitely recommend it to those steak eaters. The restaurant is quite petite but if you get a seat, then it is a real joy to eat here. If I were to find a drawback, it would be that the alcohol does not seem to have any offers on. This in itself is probably why most students only arrive for a quiet drink and not for a night out. The clientele is slightly older than many of surrounding pubs but it is this clientele that makes Ryan’s a real must for any one who visits Belfast. Other things of note include the deal which Ryan’s operates with the cinema whereby you can get a ticket for your show and a meal for less than £10.

Ryan’s is a fantastic bar, but an even better restaurant. It’s always been the family place to go with us. Sitting with my extended family, with running, screaming kids is made bearable thanks to the perfectly cooked steak in front of me. The menu is a fantastic mix of Irish/British food cooked to order. It’s the first place I’ve been to that offer traditional Irish classics such as Boxty, a mad attempt by the good old Irish to make the potato more versatile than it already is. But their steaks is where my heart lies. For less then £20 you can order any starter and any steak from the menu. The Rib-eye is fantastic and I couldn’t recommend it more.

I had a rip-roaring night here recently, when I met up with some old friends for a good old catch up. They had just had a meal with their family, and were raving about the food,(I then wished I had been able to join them), and the atmosphere was growing into what became an excellent night on the tiles. The restaurant is upstairs, and the main bar area is down below, and the bar staff are great — really friendly and attentive — they never served the wrong person when I was waiting, they always knew who was next in line. Very fair. The music was good — middle of the road stuff but always good for a bit of a dance(not much space to dance but that didn’t stop us) and the drinks were reasonably priced, as they usually are in Botanic Inn establishments. Central enough location too, at the bottom of the Lisburn Road. Worth a look.

Average place to eat adequate but average would be my summary. Not too expensive but menu is unadventourous and my chicken was over cooked and the salad was dying looking! Staff are fine but again they could be better and quicker.

Part of Botanic Inns Group. Great food and atmosphere. Staff very friendly and place is child friendly. Do a variety of Irish Boxtys which are like large savoury pancakes with fillings such as seafood or Irish Ham and cabbage. Great offers and take the Hi-Life card allowing 2 for 1 meals
