If you’re a stationary geek, you should definitely give this shop a visit! They have so many quirky journals and pens, and they are all of such high quality. Yes, the prices can seem a little steep but you really do get your money’s worth. That staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. They wrapped up a gift I was buying and made me feel very welcome! Great spot!

Girls love stationary. We’re mad fer it! We like it better than babies and kittens… together in the same room! Ask anyone. We simply can’t resist buying folders, lovely pens(I took Eamonn Mallies recommendation that the Berol handwriting pens are the only ones he’s used throughout his entire career as a journo as they write so smoothly, and he was right) sparkly pencils and cute notebooks with cupcakes or some other such cutesy crap. I don’t know why it gives us so much pleasure to browse around stationary shops, but nevertheless it does. Paperchase do an excellent range of stationary. They have really pretty cards, cool wrapping paper, folders, diaries. They all come with a hefty price tag that I’m not so sure sits easily with me.

I was once dating a student teacher, and I think on some level, deep down, she liked Paperchase more than she liked me and would use her class or any form occasion(birthdays, weddings) to get some new stationary and funky paper to write her congratulations on. Paperchase is filled with a huge range of funky stationary, in all styles imaginable. I wasn’t to sure you could make stationary be cool, but you learn something new everyday! Whilst I do agree that the stuff in this store is pretty cool, but wow, is it expensive. They have done well, turning a very basic daily essential into something pretty cool, but they demand a price tag for it!

I first discovered this corner of House of Fraser when a friend was half an hour late to meet me in the Oyster Bar which is just beside it. I felt like too much of a desperado loser to sit at the bar by myself so I sloped off into the aisles of Paperchase to wait and ended up spending almost £50! Paperchase is all about stationery and stuff that kids need for school. I left with a determination to organise my life, with the help of my freshly purchased ring binder, recipe holder, household organiser and diary. They all look beautiful on the desk in the study but have failed to spontaneously transform my life. Still, their flowery loveliness and fresh white paper look great and still have that lovely new stationery smell. I also bought my kids some really funky pencil cases and pencils which have funny little monster which look like bogeys all over them. It can be tricky to find stationery that 9 year old bys will find acceptable but these passed the test and have been used ever since. High praise indeed. You can also get wrapping paper, cards and good old fashioned note paper and envelopes for anyone with an aversion to email and texting. True, you can but cheaper stationery in Tesco, but in Paperchase you get a lovely shopping experience and a wider choice.

My idea of heaven. Well, stationery heaven. Being a teacher, I kind of have a deep connection with pretty pens and pencils and address books and diaries, and rubbers and sharpeners and postcards and basically anything pretty that I don’t need. I used to have to wait for annual trips to Bristol or London to stock up on Paperchase goodies, but now that we have one right here in Belfast, I am unutterably happy. They sell some beautiful cards and wrapping papers and gift bags, and occasionally some wedding favours and the like. But it’s their academic diaries that I love the most — they are all beautifully designed and pretty — but practical too. They sell lovely tech-point pens and sometimes I have to stop myself from buying too many. It’s quite pricey just for a stationery shop, but it’s the brand that it sells and the quality too. Love it.
