Beatrice Kennedy is a lovely restaurant serving delicious, fine food. They are very popular so you do need to book in advance and their pre theatre menu of 2 courses for £15.95 is excellent value. I’ve always experienced great service and enjoyed dining here. Scrumptious desserts too…

Have been 3 times(at others’ request). Food has been consistently appalling(tinned tomato soup as a sauce). Service has been slow and we have never been made to feel welcome. The bill has also been wrong on 2 occassions(overcharging of course). And the place is dingy. Please PLEASE go somewhere(anywhere!) else! Awful beyond words.

Lovely restaurant in the university area. Always seems to be very busy, so you should try and book ahead. Great early evening menu.

Beatrice Kennedy’s was always one of those places that we always meant to go to after driving past numerous times. We finally went for the first time about two and a half years ago, and have been (generally) every three or four months ever since. The menu changes regularly and features the highest quality local produce, cooked and presented to perfection. To start you are given a small complimentary soup of the day(if you are not ordering a starter) and the soups are absolutely to die for, along with the delicious, fresh bread. The building itself was a house in times gone by, and the décor reflects this period, you can really imagine what it would have been like in those days. The layout is intimate without being cramped. The service is quick, efficient and highly professional at all times. The staff have all got the hard to find skill of getting things just right, unlike in many other restaurants where you have to go out of the way to get their attention, or even worse, they give you too much and you feel like you are being rushed. Beatrice Kennedy is an absolute gem of an establishment which I would recommend to anyone, and I look forward to eating there again in the near future.

Another one of those restaurants that seem to have been around a lifetime in Belfast, with a good reputation for food and service and located in a busy area. Dining out with work colleagues one night(and the tab on the company!) we ended up here for a delightful, unpretentious night. Normally I find this kind of restaurant can be a bit stiff or intimidating but after a few glasses of the wine we all relaxed and the banter started to flow. Surprisingly for a week night it was pretty busy and the staff certainly had their hands full attending to the busy tables. The décor was simple and the old wooden floor looked like it had been around for a lifetime, with plenty of scuffs and scrapes on it. After a delicious(and rather filling) tuna salad to start and then more wine, the main courses arrived. There was a bit of a mix up with one of the orders but the staff soon rectified that and thankfully my salmon arrived intact and piping hot. Unfortunately I think this is the type of restaurant that people might ‘take for granted’ a bit but I found it to be a great place to dine with super food and good service Pros: Nice atmosphere, busy area Cons: Expensive but then you do pay for what you get.

Beatrice Kennedy is a lovely intimate restaurant situated smack bang in the middle of Queens student area. Its very small and easily missed but certainly can hold its own! The food is really great! We went in here for a date one evening and really had a great meal. The menu is quite small which is sometimes a nice change from having to read through a novels worth of choices that you get in some places. It is expensive though so brace yourself as the main course alone will set you back nearly £20. I went for the seared scallop to start which was really nice! Perfectly cooked and really well presented! Then the main was Duck with polenta mash which was really awesome. I love duck and it’s especially great when you find somewhere that cooks it well. I must say I found the food well worth the price and my partner raved about their rib eye steak! This restaurant is perfect for a date as it’s cosy, romantic and very intimate and I hear they’re booked out over Valentines day. Certainly worth a visit due to the sheer quality of the food but best not to come too often as its pricey!

Beatrice Kennedy on University Road is a local hot spot for the real foodies in Belfast. Now I’m not one of them, so no matter what I say here, I won’t be able to do it justice. It’s a place that should be on everyones bucket list. The menu is small but changes constantly and for what they lack in quantity they surely make up on quality. I had the Duck Confit, which did cost a hefty £16 but it was worth every single penny, I wanted to give them more money to thank them further(ahem…that would be whats called a tip Conor). Great place to enjoy some of the best food Belfast has to offer, but prepare your purse strings.

A cosy enough little restaurant, quite quaint in style. Not a lot to say about this really. It’s a pleasant environment with good service, but definitely has the most limited menu I’ve ever seen, with just six main courses on the evening menu(aside from daily specials). With such a limited menu I expected the ingredients and preparation of every dish to be honed to perfection, but it wasn’t the culinary experience I’d expected. At around £17 for a main course the food wasn’t anything special — the best part of my meal was the mashed potatoes, which were buttery, fluffy, and absolutely perfect — but I don’t go to places to marvel at the side orders, especially when Mains are so expensive. Don’t get me wrong, I had no complaints regarding my lamb — no-one at our table had complaints about any of the dishes(between us all we covered all the Mains on the menu), and one of our company who had the steak said that it was the best steak they’d ever had! Praise indeed, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations — and there are many other places I’ve been much more impressed with(and come out with my pocket not so light). Starters around £7(with soup at under £4), Mains around £17

This is a quiet little haunt stuck in the middle of Queen’s student quarter and in that respect it is an ambition and potentially distructive plan. The restaurant is small and quiet expensive, neither of which would appeal to the poor, boisterous student. However despite this, the restaurant is building itself a good little reputation as good, real, homely food. We went for Valentines Day and it was mad busy as you would expect, but it suits romantic meals rather than larger gatherings. The food is beautiful, filling and a delicate blend of flavours that leaves you wanting more. The restaurant is fantastic. The staff are more than obliging. However at nearly £30 per person(drinks included) it is a tad too expensive for my liking, but on the whole, a very successful little restaurant.

I haven’t eaten here much, but it has always been lovely when I have. Situated seconds from Queen’s University, this restaurant does a brilliant trade on Friday and Saturday nights. The food is wonderful, eclectic and great for a well developed palate. It is not strange that even though this restaurant is in the heart of the student area of Belfast, you don’t often see many students in it. The food is delicious and seasonal. When I was lucky enough to go along with my parents one evening I tried their rib eye steak, which was simply incredible. I wish I could explain it better but I can’t. It was simply that good. The price for a main course is around £16−21, so I wouldn’t advise you make this your weekly haunt, but a lovely place to go if you ever want a special meal not to be forgotten.

It’s a lovely treat to eat here. I went with my Mum for her birthday recently, and we had the most beautiful meal. It’s a small, quaint little Georgian house around the corner from Queens University, and it has a romantic pretty charm about it — and it’s cosy and intimate too. A great place for Valentines or a special occasion or anniversary I would say. I had the smoked mozzarella starter which really was lovely, and then the pan roasted duck breast with porcini crushed potatoes and beetroot. I felt the dish could have done without the beetroot but that’s a minor point. The service was excellent and consistent throughout the meal. Regardless of the food, which was lovely anyway — I would go back here just for the lovely atmosphere.
