Review for Belfast’s Bubbacue. Since Buubacue re-opened a number of months ago, I have been a regular visitor. This place is top class. I normally hate any location where I am asked to pay in full prior to be served. With Bubbacue this is never a problem. The food is simply superb. Although Bubbacue is a relatively new venture in to the NI market, the team behind this particular establishment have a world of experience. The food itself is beyond tasty, it is simple, warm and extra tasty. I would alternate been a ‘Beef box’ with lettuce, rice etc and/or a Beef sandwich, I tend to also purchase some of their tasty chips and I also love their corn bread. All of this comes in(including a tasty drink) for sub £10. I spoke recently with the management about online reviews and the starring systems employed by various platforms #TripAdvisor #Yelp etc. One complaint that they(Bubbacue) have suffered is that certain people had said that they had left felling ‘empty’ or not having enough to eat. My experience would be the opposite. The food is so tasty that I often scoff it a little faster than I intend and often I have left so ‘stuffed’ that I have struggled to walk! This is a first class establishment, it is clean, professional and tasty with a Capital ‘T’ not only would I recommend this establishment I would recommend that you visit Bubbacue on a regular basis as it will never disappoint. 11⁄10 imho

Used to love this place and would have given it five stars until the recent refurbishment and menu change. Although there have been new things added, they have not made up for what has been removed. Worth a try if you haven’t been before or in a while but what was a great place to go to is now just a good place.

Ok so it feels so wrong giving this place only 2 stars but I have to be honest so let me explain… This was my go to place for a meal in Belfast before it was ‘refurbished’…I missed it when it was closed and couldn’t wait for it to open again! But when it reopened I’d heard reports that it was now so different and more like a fast food outlet-so I put off going in to try it, because I just didn’t want to admit that the little rustic charming place I had loved before was gone :( Anyways I eventually decided I had to give it a go, and unfortunately my fears were realised! It had almost a Boojum feel about it, which in itself is fine as I love Boojum and if I’d never experienced the previous incarnation of bubbacue, I probably would have been happy enough-but I have and I’m not! It’s cold and clinical feeling with its metal counter tops and bench style seating-it reminded me of a school canteen. In short this place has just lost all its charm and the thing that made it different, now it’s just like every other fast food place in Belfast-the food is good so I’m sure it will still do well but I just can’t forgive the takeaway boxes and the plastic cups and cutlery! I probably won’t be too quick to return :(

Bring back bubba the pig! I’ve been itching to get in to see the new look/menu and I have to admit, I’m a little disappointed. First off, the food is still fantastic and the addition of the brisket chilli will have me coming back regardless, but I prefer the old barn feel. The new set up is a lot more slick, and I can see why they done it. They can rattle through more customers than before but in doing so, I believe they lost a little bit of identity. The tiled walls, the big tv, the ordering system. All feels a bit too McDonalds for me. However, the food is still the best bbq on this island so it won’t put me off coming back!

Love the new look of Bubbacue — the new layout is much more modern. The food ordering system threw me off slightly but I’m sure after a few more visits It will become much more smooth. Food wise I think it’s overrated — I like meat as much as the next guy but you can get similar in most Belfast delis! I got a box on my visit, perhaps it was the bread I was missing out on? Overall good but not great!

Bubbacue has had a major facelift and it’s looking just swell. The chubby pig mascot has been replaced by a suave, sophisticated red ‘B’ and the previous wooden barn feeling of the restaurant has been swapped out for a clean, cool, tiled diner look. The whole place feels a lot more cohesive, when you walk in you immediately are faced with the tills, there’s now enough room for 2 checkouts so this should speed everything up. The ordering process is a little different to before. I’ll take you through it; you walk in, place your order, pick if you want a sandwich or a box and then you follow your order around, a lot like what they do in Boojum. There’s a lot more seating now with added raised areas and window seats. When we were in the place was packed but it didn’t feel over crowded. There’s a huge 82 inch screen on the wall showing videos of the cooking process so you can see how your meal was prepared. One thing that hasn’t changed is the quality of the food. I got the beef brisket sandwich and the beef was everything I remembered and more — tender and tasty with a smokey after taste that lingers on the taste buds. **A standing ovation from me** Sometimes restaurants change a winning formula and it totally backfires but Bubbacue have done everything right! They’ve focussed on what they are amazing at and made some slight décor changes that enhance the whole customer experience.

I am in love with this place, the food is amazing!!! I’ve been here a few times and never had a problem with my food. However I can not go into the restaurant with my daughter. The restaurant is very small and it’s a hassle to try and get prams in and out, so I just don’t bother going if I have her with me, which is sad because I’d be in there every week if I could. But it’s my first choice if I’m baby free.

I’m absolutely loving the new Bubbacue. The interior is fresh and spacious. The staff were friendly and were able to advise on what went well together. I ordered the slow cooked chicken sandwich with cheese, coleslaw and rocket. It was delicious, a good size portion, and I managed to eat the whole burger. The chicken wings were so tasty! Our food was ready within a few minutes of placing our order which is good if your just nipping out of work to grab a quick lunch! Great food, great service and in a great location! Can’t wait to try other things on the menu!

Can’t fault this place, regularly stop for a quick lunch here at the weekend, especially when you’re hungover. The service is quick and efficient, even in busy times there may be a small queue out the door but it moves fast and you aren’t left standing long! The atmosphere is always bustling with good tunes playing. Bubbacue is fully licensed, lots of tasty beers to try. But the main event is the food, beef brisket or a bucket of hot wings are my go to, and my sides are usually Mac and cheese or fries. The portions are massive, but you you’ll always be left wanting more just because it’s so tasty! I would say the prices are a tad on the pricey side but I’m willing to pay for a meal that doesn’t disappoint me ever!

If you want fantastic slow cooked meat Bubbacue is the place to be. Limited menu but all tasty and served to you in a matter of minutes. The queue can seem large at lunchtime but it moves quickly enough. The same menu is also available as takeaway. My tip: Burnt ends, they go fast but if you’re lucky enough to get some they’re worth it!

The ribs are the best I’ve ever eaten. When they have them! They seem to run out of food and drink all the time. I frequently arrive only to be told that they have no meat left at all!

I wasn’t as impressed as everyone else seemed to be on my last visit to Bubbacue over a year ago, but after taking the plunge and trying it again last night I can say I was pleasantly surprised! The pulled pork was tender, the variety of sauces was sufficient and the fries were very impressive! Good show Bubbacue!

It’s all about American barbecue, all about smoked meat! They have the best pulled pork sandwich! Their portions are great and so are the prices! One of my favourite places in Belfast! I have tried other dishes from the menu but there is nothing like their Pulled Pork Sandwich! It’s tender, full of flavour and comes with a choice of one side(normally I go for the homemade fries)! The portions are very, very generous for the price and they have homemade lemonade and homemade ice tea to match. To be honest I don’t know which one I prefer but both are wonderful! The place itself is a typical American style restaurant(I guess)! Nice atmosphere, red table cloths and country music! The staff is very pleasant, service very efficient and it never takes too long to bring the food to the table! A good choice for something casual! Amazing food at a superb price in a strangely quiet location in city centre! Yes, I’m a fan and I will keep coming back!

Probably one of my favorite places in Belfast. The food is great quality, American barbecue. The prices are low, and the place looks cool. I like the nice and focused menu: they only do barbecue, and they do that well. The ambiance is great, and the service is friendly. No real drawbacks, just a solid American barbecue restaurant. I had both the pulled pork slider, and the beef brisket. Both are great, and there are different sauces on the table which are all good. Highly recommended for a casual meal.

Great Place this, the food isn’t the most imaginative in the way a lot of new trendy places try to be different for the sake of it, but they’ve taken some staple BBQ ideas and maxed out the quality beautifully. The folks that own this place are also the fine peeps that brought you Boojum I believe, so if you’re familiar with the pleasant atmosphere and style of Belfast’s seemingly favourite burrito bar you should probably recognise it here too. The menu(probably due to its BBQ theme) isn’t the most extensive in the world, rather like Boojum, but there is enough that if you like the BBQ theme you should find something from the 5 or 6 basic choices that will make your mouth water. The only reason I took a star away is because they don’t seem to keep regular opening times. I’ve followed them on Facebook and it seems like they haven’t quite got their stock levels quite nailed down as most days they seem to put up messages saying they’re closed for the day due to running out of something. Maybe this will change in the future when they become more settled in to daily patterns, but for the time being it takes the shine off. Knowing that there’s a strong chance they’ll have run out of the thing you were after or have closed altogether for the afternoon and have closed is a bit damaging to the reputation

Delicious food though the prices are straight out of Dublin. If you can look past the mounting bill you’ll be highly satisfied.
