This was the cutest bed and breakfast I have stayed at to date. The owners Natalie and Guy are very personable and happy to help. Natalie have great suggestions regarding things to do and places to eat around Bath. The rooms are a bit on the smaller side compared to the roomier rooms in the states but by bed and breakfast standards are typical. The beds are comfy and the rooms are very cozy. The real standout here is the breakfast. You get a choice of coffee(they have many different options– my favorite was the Italian toast) or tea(again a wide variety). You then order an entrée. I had the omelette one day and poached eggs the next. Everything was so very fresh and tasty. The eggs they use come from their own chickens. They also have a buffet of fruit, yogurt, cereals, and croissants while you wait for your meal. Located just minutes away from the city center, the Kennard Hotel’s central location, lovely rooms, and tasty breakfast will definitely have me coming back when I come back to Bath.

Breakfast at The Kennard was a dream come true. Prepared and served to the highest standard, it’s as if the host and hostess wanted to open a restaurant but opened a B&B instead. Everything is hot and delicious while there is a sumptuous array of cold dishes of fruit salad, yogurt, homemade granola, homemade jams and jellies, and freshly squeezed fruit juice for you to sample. Even the table setting is indeed silver. The bed and bedding at the Kennard was excellent but overall the rooms could use some tweaking, such as the towel holder for the sink was impractically located and couldn’t be used, and the light-blocking window shade would only pull halfway down(important when the sun rises at 4:30am). And of course, the rooms are very very small, understandable due to the historical accomodation. We appreciated the welcome, helpful tips, and complimentary bottles of both still and sparking water. The location of the Kennard is excellent — only a 10 minute walk from the city center, but in a very quiet neighborhood. Recommended? Yes, 100%.

The Kennard, and its owners Guy and Natalie, are just perfect for a stay in Bath. First, Guy and Natalie are warm and thoughtful hosts. They get to know the guests and make great recommendations. Thanks to Guy for suggesting that on my visit to the Holbourne Museum, I walk through Sydney Park and then along the canals. I would have missed the canals without Guy’s recommendation and they were so lovely to walk along. Second, the location can’t be beat. It is a very short walk to the key sites in Bath and all along the walk are shops, cafes, restaurants. There’s even a pharmacy and a supermarket nearby and its only about a 5GBP cab ride from the bus/train station. The street it is located on remained pretty quiet at night which was great as well. Third, the amenities overall are really nice. Like any European B&B the rooms are a bit cozy by American standards, but that’s the point of travelling, right?! We don’t want everything to be like the U.S. Lovely little tea set up in the room(complete with specialty Kit Kat bars) and good quality tea, super large bath towels, a comfy bed, and a stack of awesome local mags(there was one particularly great one that was food-focused). The wi-fi wasn’t particularly strong, but since I was on vacation it suited my needs well. The breakfast is really wonderful. I’ve never had eggs so pretty with bright yolks and so clearly from a local farmer. Great loose leaf teas, fresh-squeezed orange juice, toast, pastries, yogurt, granola, you can’t go hungry here and everything was of very good quality. The nightly rate is very reasonable and when you layer on all the great things about the Kennard, it really is a good value. A word to the wise about a few things. 1. Shampoo is provided, but no conditioner. I stayed at another hotel in a different location in England and again no conditioner. Maybe it is a British thing. If you need conditioner to survive, bring some with. 2. It’s a historic house so be prepared to walk up some stairs. Also, my neighbors in adjoining rooms were very quiet and respectful; however, I could imagine that if you had the wrong neighbors it might be a bit loud. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely book here again if I ever found myself in Bath. Thanks Natalie and Guy!
