The food was good, but they were out of our first three selections, including the Sunday special«roast of the day.» We settled on Fish and Chips, Summer Chicken Pie and a Cheese Sandwich. The food was delicious but the service at the bar left a lot to be desired. We had to order our food at the bar because no one came by to take our order. When the food was delivered to the table the waitress was friendly. I would have given them a 2 for the service, but because the food was delicious, I give them a 4.

Great cocktails. The interior is really nice and the staircase leading up to the dining floor and then the roof terrace dominates. It’s like being in someone’s(really large) living room. Shame that we could not eat at the lovely copper bar(had to be seated at a table) especially because the small plates looked pretty good on the menu. Rooftop terrace was nice and obviously popular with smokers. Dining area is a balcony overlooking the ground floor but closed when we visited. There was also a serious-looking espresso machine on the ground floor that looked like it would churn out a mean cappuccino.

Less than expected. Noisy with poor service and mediocre food. Sunday roast beef with yorkshire pudding was perfectly awful. Service was inattentive and hurried. Do not waste your time or money.

Quaint but a bit loud. Sunday beef roast was fair. Pork off the main menu was quite good. Wine was reasonably priced

This place is cool. I came here following my friend’s boss advice last saturday for dinner and a drink. The atmosphere is great, the place is big, there is a lot of light /glass walls, a good vibe overall. There is a big bar on the right of the entrance and a restaurant with open plan kitchen on the first floor, connected by a big staircase in the middle of the place. We had a booking at 9,30 for dinner but came earlier for a quick drink at the bar downstairs. The place was full of hen parties but overall the atmosphere was not as trash as you woudl expect. Then we moved upstairs for dinner were we had some mixed starters and a good steak. The wine list was okay, not a lot of choices but not bad either. Service was quick during the dinner but a bit slower to process payments, but overall it was a bank holiday weekend and seems like the whole world was in Bath!

Great food! This restaurant has a nice selection of food to choose from: meats, seafood, and vegetarian options. There’s a nice selection of starters. I had the prawns with garlic butter. They were very good and a healthy portion size. For my entrée I wanted to have the veal but they were out of that, as well as two other items, though the lobster frittes does mention on the menu that it is limited and may be out. I settled for the honey glazed duck and honestly feel like I may have lucked out. It was very tender and flavorful. The side of potatoes were cooked perfectly as well. Lastly, for dessert I had the lemon tart. It had a great taste and wasn’t too sour. Perfect dishes all around and I would definitely come back again.

This was the second time/year our volleyball team decided to have dinner at Hall and Woodhouse when we went to Bath for an annual tournament. We were not disappointed. The place is spacious and had a good atmosphere. Not too noisy, so a conversation was possible. We all had the Ribeye steak and were happy. Good service too. We will be back.

Had lunch here with 4 friends on 21st July 2012 — we walked in and got a table on the ground floor with no problems. Although, had we been about 10 mins later, I doubt we would have been so lucky. The tables were long and wooden with bench seating which, I think, you share with other parties if you dont fill up the whole table. The restaurant is really well decorated with plenty of light coming from the glass roof. I believe there is slightly more formal dining upstairs as well as a roof terrace although I didnt see it during my visit. The menu is great with plenty of options for the 2 vegetarians in our party. The service was very efficient & the bill reasonable. Recommended for a casual lunch with friends.

Style over substance. Naff food displays and overpriced. Staff need to learn the tip earning trick of good manners. Not for me or any of the five friends that came with me.

Well, they spent a lot of money on the building. Pity they did not do the same on the staff training and food quality. Booked for 12.30. No one at all interested when we arrived. 5 minutes to get table. 10 minutes to get a drink. The waitresses are all very pretty and very nice but… not so professional. Meat sharing plate was ok though lacking in flavours. Olives passable. Rib eye ordered bleu was well done, soft and chewy. Stargazy pie was a travesty. Chicken and ham pie tasted of little. Chips, salad and veg all average to say the best. Puddings eminently forgetable. Very nice Amarone but at £32 one expects that. Bill @ £60 per head inc. tip and wine and £40 per head sans grog far too much for mediocre food and service. It’ll always be full because people will want to be seen, but actually it’s pretty lousy for food and atmosphere and service.

H & W is a large new pub where Bonhams used to be in Bath. It’s good in the summer as it has a small amount of outdoor seating and front steps where smokers congregate. The staff are efficient, if not particularly friendly, and there is a huge variety of good beer and wine on offer. I have to say that I did consider giving it only three stars, due to the rather yuppieish atmosphere and sky high prices(easily over £6.00 for a large glass of wine) but it did claw its way back to 4 stars with the unusual drinks on offer(and the cute men that frequent it!). Definitely worth a go.

Went there for lunch with a friend after seeing and article in a Bristol /Bath magazine. What a great surprise to find the best restaurant /bar in Bath. At last a place with class and amazing décor! Look forward to visiting it on a warm evening, a lovely roof section for drinks and a meal, and no smoking at the table, smokers off to a special area… Waiters/Waitresses, experienced and smartly turned out, food not cheap, but nicely presented, well worth it. Look forward to my next visit…
