Went for lunch with friends and was really impressed with everything. Firstly the menu had plenty of choice and was all freshly cooked. The food was of excellent quality and although quite busy was on our table within 15 minutes. The Staff were all very friendly and helpful. the atmoshpere was relaxed with music playing quietly in the background. The bar itself was clean and the décor was tasteful. I did notice that they had a highchair which is also a nice to see they welcome families to eat. overall excellent value for money and on our next trip to Bath will definately be stopping for lunch again.

Nice décor, great in the day as you can always get a table for a coffee which is unusual in central Bath(a bit undiscovered I think). Friendly service. Haven’t tried the food hence the tentative 3 stars… Was overcharged once but when I went back in they sorted it out without making me feel like the criminal — nice.

This place looked funky and fun and modern and hip all rolled into one. The bartender/server was really great and worked with my fussy ways of choosing off the menu. We had an elderflower 7-up type drink that was refreshing and aromatic. Wish I would’ve brought back some of that to the states. For our entrees, we both had the burger and and it was perfectly cooked. grey all around and pink in the center. The fries were good too and came with a ketchup /salsa like stuff that was equally interesting and tasty. Great for a pit stop lunch break. And on the 2nd floor there’s a mold casting sculpture of 4 peoples arses. Pretty funny and interesting. In the same room there is some nice opportunity to do bit of portrait taking. Theres a really cool felt wall paper that I liked very much.

We were looking for a nice place to get some simple breakfast during a recent visit to Bath, and stumbled upon this place, so we thought we’d give it a try. Although initially the atmosphere seemed nice, from dirty utensils to poor service, we were thoroughly let down all round. The prices seemed a little over the odds for a simple breakfast menu, but we thought we’d let it slide, being Bath after all, and expecting a wholesome start to the day. Unfortunately, the coke arrived tasting oddly of rust, although the waitress were quick to replace it. Even more unfortunately, she replaced it with a cup of tea accompanied by a very dirty teaspoon. After ordering scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, we had to wait at least five minutes before being told that there was no smoked salmon, although this was not indicated on the menu. We were offered bacon as a replacement to smoked salmon, which we grudgingly accepted. The food arrived and was generally acceptable, although the eggs benedict was covered in a Hollandaise sauce that I can only describe as being closer to vinegar than anything else, and it was definitely not a pleasant flavour to go with eggs. The toilets were in a sorry state, with a partially blocked off fireplace still evident, and a toilet cubicle where you almost had to mount the toilet in order to close the cubicle door, and an open cistern. On receiving the bill we were fully expecting a small discount for the substitution of the smoked salmon with bacon, but were informed that bacon costs more than smoked salmon, therefore no such discount would be made. This was not only poor service, but somewhat insulting too. Eventually, with some resistance, we bartered an incredible 74p reduction in the bill, and left, quite dissatisfied.

In comparison to the other reviewer, I’ve only visited Central Bar during the evening. The upstairs area is great, with comfy leather sofas, candles and wooden tables, it’s the perfect place to head for a few drinks with your partner, or a couple of friends, if you’re after a more refined setting. The drinks are a bit on the pricey side — about a fiver for a 250ml glass of wine, but no more than plenty of the other, similar bars in Bath, so it’s not something that should put you off. The atmosphere isn’t bad, but it can get a bit noisy at times and getting served at the bar on a Friday or Saturday night can be a bit of a mission.

Visited a few times always late morning for breakfast. I normally order scrambled egg and smoked salmon on a muffin washed down with a cappucino or a white wine. Food quality good with pleasant staff. Décor plainish with a few abstract paintings for sale on the wall. Free wifi. There is an upstairs bar with leather sofas.
