The Crown Inn

I’ve been to The Crown three times over the past couple of weeks and it’s the best food and service in the area. The kitchen crew knows what they are doing and the front end staff really cares about your experience. So if you’re in Basingstoke or Old Basing, this is the place to dine.
Of course you can also stop in for a pint as well but I recommend a pint and dinner as it’s the food that will really wow you.

Staff were superb, attentive and welcoming. With 4 meals and three starters had an opportunity to get a feel and taste of the place. The home made bread was hot and tasty. We all (4) enjoyed our starters and three of the main courses were quite superb. My House Burger was good, except the bun was a tad overtoasted making it a bit dry and crispy. The dressing was a joy to eat though and I would not hesitate to go there again or recommend others to try it

The Best Sunday Roast i’ve ever had! Have now eaten at The Crown 4 times since it reopened and the food everytime has been fantastic. It’s very unusual to experience a freshly prepared and cooked meal for such good prices. We have booked to go back and have recommended to many people who have also had no complaints.

Not sure what the last comment was on about, I had a marvellous time at The Crown! They certainly don’t need negativity like that!
The food there is absolutely divine. I don’t think I’ve had a better steak, ever. And I’ve had some steak in my time! My wife had the breast of chicken and I had a taste of that too… Will definitely be ordering that next time we come! Desserts were great too, my apple crumble was excellent (don’t tell my mum!) and the crème brûlée was very tasty too (don’t tell my wife, I had a spoonful while she nipped to the loo!). Didnt get to try the starters this time but there’s always going to be a next time if they keep the food standard this high.
Thank you to the new owners who saved the Crown from going the way of too many village pubs. They’ve not only saved it but reinvented it as probably the top place to eat in town. Long may it continue!

Good to see the Crown open again, less good to get very very short measures twice. This is not just poor business practice, it is also illegal.
