Love this restaurant. Service is nearly as good as any fine dining restaurant in the UK. You’re made to feel like you’re a treasured possession !!! The amuse bouche was a lovely surprise and delicious. We’ve booked again for our anniversary as I think we deserve it!!!

Really impressed with Pearl Bistro in Ballyholme village. This location is somewhat cursed as many restaurants have set up here and ultimately failed but I feel that Pearl has concocted a recipe that will work. Pearl is chic yet casual, an unusual blend — outside there’s a nice fenced area with built in beach huts, very fitting considering it’s seaside location. Inside it’s a fine dining set up with chandeliers dangling over head and crisp white décor exuding class. The menu is vast with a broad range of food and huge wine list. Today I went for the daily special which was spicy meatball taglatelli — the informed waiter pretty much sold it to me by the way he described the ingredients — I wasn’t let down! It was excellent — the meatballs had a kick but weren’t unbearable although the portion was maybe a little smaller than expected. At £10 I felt it was a little too steep for lunch — perhaps in the future when Pearl becomes more established they could look in to do a cheaper, smaller lunch menu. I would suggest trying Pearl — it’s the type of place that’s upmarket but won’t make you feel uncomfortable!

Happily impressed by Pearl Ballyholme and as a resident of the area am glad a restaurant finally seems to be working on his site given the fate of all its’ predecessors. The look is fresh and new and I particularly like the«beer garden» with its’ beach-like huts and open feel. The interior is white and clean and well decorated without being too in your face and from entry both staff were exemplary, cracking jokes and giving personal opinions about the food which I always welcome. The food was of a good quality and the wine list is extensive too which was a welcome sight. I opted for the crispy buttered chicken that came with an Asian style cold sauce and PICKLED onion rings that were very, very good. I wasn’t blown away by any part of my experience but will be back to try the evening menu in the future.

On Saturday morning we decided to try out the recently revamped Pearl Bistro in Ballyholme for a spot of breakfast. This place has had a few changes of name in recent years but I must say this time they have done a top job on the décor and the place looks really well. The sun had decided to show it’s face for a change so we sat outside in the comfortable little beach huts and the setting was really very pleasant. The only small issue was the adjacent Spar were taking their morning delivery which proved quite noisy as the delivery man wrestled heavy cages of supplies into the shop. Certainly wouldn’t hold that against the restaurant though, it was just unlucky timing! Service was good with the lady who I presume was the Manager/Owner being particularly friendly. I had a cooked breakfast with tea and the my wife had toast with maple syrup and orange juice. Food was fine although the portions could have been a little more generous and the bill of about £15 was dear enough. Had a quick glance at the dinner menu and it did look pretty appealing. I daresay we will give it a go one evening as this potentially could be a very nice little spot.

This restaurant has been open about two weeks now and judging by how busy it was when I was in for lunch earlier it is proving to be a popular new spot.(Or the people of Ballyholme are just curious!!) Probably could do with speeding up the service if they want to keep all the punters! The lunch menu was quite simple but still a decent choice, but I was a bit disappointed as the food itself wasn’t anything special. The establishment has been revamped very well with stylist tables and chairs and funky neon lighting. There is a great outside area at the front with very colourful beach huts, I presume to keep the smokers dry and I noticed that they even have a dog facility!!! All in all it was a nice experience but don’t think I’ll rush back.
