Situated in one of the most lovely spots in Bangor, this restaurant is one heck of a cool cat. To be fair, it was actually more on the freezing side of cold, with blasts of icy air released from the air con right in our direction. I spent the entire lunch time shivering my socks off(well, I’m sure they would have been shivered off, had I been wearing any), but refreshing it most certainly was. Other than the low temperatures, Fat Cat is still a very chic restaurant, oozing charm and charisma. It’s not all that big, but the use of space works very well, with the eating area covering the lower area, as well as an upper area beside the kitchen. My eyes were experiencing a ‘bigger than stomach’ phenomena, so I ordered the sweet chili chicken breast burger, whilst my other half opted for a simple panini. The burger turned out to be even bigger than I had imagined, and alongside the salad and chips there was absolutely no way I was going to be able to handle everything. It was good, though the batter wasn’t what I had expected. Paining was great, and came with a salad too, for a mere £4.50. Cutting my lunch short, for fear of turning into a literal ‘fat cat’, I realised that I had eaten really only half of the burger. Clitorides, I forced myself to devour some more, but it just wasn’t happening. It really was a shame. The Fat Cat offers a corker of a meal deal — 2 courses ‘furor’ £10 — and if they’re all that size, you’ll definitely be getting your money’s worth! They operate this wonderful deal from 5pm-7:15pm on Mondays to Thursdays, from 4:45pm-6:15pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and from 4 – 6:15 on Sundays. As the Aristocats once sang: «Everybody wants to be a cat, Because a cat’s the only cat Who knows where it’s at.» Oh so true.

Quite a new wee bistro in Ballyholme and it is pretty nice. If a little bit middle aged woman on a day out for my taste but its pretty good. You can call in for a coffee or one of the herbal teas but they also offer a good menu for meals and you can get some pretty good meal deals for about £10−15 per person, which is pretty good. Its BYOB so you can keep costs down that way, and there is a winemark just across the road if you need to pick up a bottle of vino. Its in a nice location and you should be able to get parked up easy enough.
