I stumbled upon Oriental Fire while looking for restaurants that also did a take away service, I’m not a fan of normal take-aways and am always trying to find something to my taste. It turned out that Oriental Fire did a take-away service so my partner and I ordered this service a few times but soon decided it was a little on the expensive side to keep up. We then started visiting the restaurant on Saturday afternoons every few months for their fantastic lunch menu which has great choice and good prices. Their evening menu tends to be restaurant prices and I would only go there as a treat. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and Korean themed. The owner is a friendly Korean man that will take the time to make sure you are enjoying your meal when he’s not cooking as chef in the kitchen. The waitresses are always friendly, helpful and offer smile when talking to you. From the lunch menu my favourite choice is the chicken gang-jung bento box in which you get rice, chicken gang-jung, noodles, yakitori chicken skewers, pickled vegtables and a small salad. My partner often orders their chicken bibimbap with home made red sauce(quite spicy.) We sometimes order the plum wine, which is wonderful and sweet and goes nicely with all Korean food but it is pricy at about £13 a bottle. The desserts are also worth a try, the ice cream mochi is a favourite and the fruit platter is a great and refreshing way to end the meal. I’ve only been here in the evening once for a Birthday outing and found it to be busy on a Saturday with many groups of what appeared to be a few tables of all women Birthday parties, they were very noisy and rude to the staff, quite racist in fact(by this I mean saying quite vulgar things to the male waiter) but of course this is not Oriental Fire’s fault and they handled the situation with a smile. I like the relaxed, quiet afternoons, were there are normally not many people and the experience is much more enjoyable for me. They still do take-away and you can find the menu on their website, but their main menu and lunch menu seem to be missing at this time. There is parking at the side and back street of the restaurant which isn’t free during the day but is free in the late evening. This place is certainly worth a try and is somewhere I will continue to visit.

Oriental Fire is a lovely little Korean and Japanese restaurant on Ashley Road in Altrincham. Owned by a very courteous gentleman who makes all his guests feel very welcome, I recommend it as a pit stop for lunch or for an early dinner. The sushi here is delicious, and made with very fresh fish although the some of the Korean dishes don’t feel quite as authentic as they could be(with classics like kimchi just missing the mark). However, the barbecued meats, Dolsot and Tempura are right on the money. The lunchtime menus are really worth while in my opinion. Choose between Bento boxes, Sushi sets or Bibimbab for as little as £6.95 for a good selection. I do like the atmosphere in this restaurant. It’s modern yet colourful, and promotes Korean and Japanese art in a very sophisticated way. I just wish they’d choose to be a little braver and make their dishes a little more authentic.
