Soles Butchers

Soles isn’t the sole butcher in the picturesque Hampshire village of Alresford but it’s a fine butcher for sure
This is my girlfriend’s go to butcher and it was worth the short drive from Winchester to get our meat for dinner yesterday. Parking was a little tight in town but we evetually found a spot
Besides locally sourced meats, Soles also do pies, some deli items, fresh eggs and my favourite — home made pork scratchings. I’m tucking into these super crispy, perfectly seasoned hits of umami as I type
We eventually settled on a rack of lamb, which got a herb crust before roasting. The lamb was tender and sweet — spring is the best season for lamb
I’m looking forward to tucking into the fresh sausages we picked up from here

This is a wonderful family butchers. The meat is second to none and although pricey you definitely get what you pay for. The ham is highly recommended for Boxing day or new year!!! A real melt in the mouth meat. They also do very tasty home made pies from the traditional steak and kidney to the not so lamb hotpot pie which is scrumptious! They have some very unique meals for one which are cooked on site as far as I can tell, there is a range of pickles and chutneys etc and a range of fresh bread and free range eggs. I have heard they do a fantastic hog roast as well which I can’t wait to tryYou will get a cheery welcome and you will not be forgotten.
