Top notch on all fronts. Service was cheerful and welcoming. Atmosphere was classy without feeling pretentious. Bar selection was enticing: a good variety of local and international beers and over twenty types of gin(with 5 different tonic options). Food was high quality. Portions were on the smaller side. A tapas style menu with an Asian leaning. Tried the salmon skewer and seared yellow fin, which were both superb.

I visited on the early bird menu one Saturday a couple of weeks ago and the food was amazing. The lamb sliders were particularly amazing, as were the chilli wings and the superfood salad. The place is decorated really well and the lighting is lovely, quite low. The gin cocktails are also to die for and the staff were wonderful. Can’t wait to go back! x

I visited the Railway Café on a quiet Tuesday night and so had the attention of all the staff! The ‘café’ is a fairly small space with stools around the bar and at the counter in the window for drinks and cute little tables toward the back for eaters. The focus is on gin in the bar — possibly the only gin bar in Alderley Edge(to be fair the focus is on champagne in most of the rest of the bars!). They stock a selection of different gins with cocktails and signature serves(garnish plus recommended FeverTree tonic). However the best bit is the food… From the same team as Mughli street food in Manchester and Knutsford, they serve up modern Indian food — hence the colonial connection with the gin. The waiter recommended trying a couple of the lamb sliders as a starter — and they were amazing! Great flavour and tiny and cute! The barman told me that when he starts eating them he can’t stop! Luckily I managed to limit myself and try a main as well. The cod with sweet potato and Goan curry sauce was beautifully presented and tasty. The cod was cooked nicely — soft and not over cooked. The sauce with cucumber and baby herb decoration worked really well and the sweet potato made me feel healthy(no idea what is in the sauce though!) I washed the food down with the local gin from Macclesfield — Forest Gin — very nice, this is definitely my kind of place!
