Our group ventured in for predinner drinks. While most selected local beers, a few of us enjoyed cocktails. To start, I have to say I was impressed with the cocktail list. Not only did it have a lot of variety, but it also seemed to mix in local, seasonal fruits into the drinks. I selected the Melon & Basil Smash. It was fresh, but not very strong. In fact, I noticed very little alcohol being added. Also, it had a lot of ice. Still, a great tasting drink. I liked the atmosphere — the whole look and feel of the place. The service was prompt and prices were good. Next trip to Alderley will include a visit!

It was a bit on the expensive side, but good! I had a strawberry mojito and it was delicious! Next time I’m in Manchester I’ll be coming back. The atmosphere was really nice, and I enjoyed sitting outside to people watch as I had my drink!

Cute, quirky & great drinks menu. A few of us ventured out to Alderley Edge on Sunday to attend a wine tasting. On the way back we had a long wait for a train so decamped into the Botanist, a Living Ventures bar just near the station. It’s done out very nicely and I loved the interior. I think it’s based on a potting shed with lots of wood and greenery. Like most LV incarnations the cocktail menu was really varied & unusual and I wanted everything. My English Mojito was perfectly made and delicious with the apple and elderflower fresh and different. Dan had a trio of thirds of beer on a tasting tray, something that seems to be gaining in popularity everywhere and I concept I like. We had good seats just near the bar, the layout is just the right balance of open plan and private. Our table was slightly set back into a wall but we could see out into the bar. I loved it. Open one in Sale please Living Ventures and I’ll be there every week.

Right is was a dull Monday evening so to brighten things up we went to the The Botanist for dinner. It a lovely bar with great décor and fresh roses as you walk in. Its not cheap but they do have every beer you can think of and a wide selection of cocktails. The cocktails all looked a little sweet for me however Himself had one and thought it was lovely. I enjoyed my wine and our food was very good. A little aside I like my caesar salad made with romaine lettuce. Try the kebabs, I think they are the best thing on the menu. I would pop in again, not tried the puddings.

We decided to take the train out from Manchester one day into the lovely little village of Alderley Edge which is only a 30 minute train journey away. There are some lovely little bars and cafes including the wonderful Botanist, its very modern looking and a feeling like you’re in a large conservatory, its very clever with the design and theres quite a few places to sit and relax, its more a restaurant than a bar but we was only there for drinks and felt pretty relaxed, we also noticed that theres a large outdoor area for the summer. Drinks were also great and it was great to have a bar what serves my most favourite larger Samuel Adams which was £4.50 a pint, they also had barrel beer which was around £3.50 a pint with some great choices to choose from. All the staff was very courteous and it has a lovely atmosphere. We can’t wait to go back and sample there food which also looked great! So if you’re up for sampling the village life from outside the city try this place!
