We recently travelled from our home in Philadelphia to Alderly Edge for a family gathering. After booking a B&B on line and being less than satisfied we went in search of another place to stay. I remember drinking in the De Trafford Arms in my youth and we popped in on the off chance they had a room to be greeted by Donna on the reception desk. First off she had me in bits with a great sense of humour, second she could not have been better at customer service showing us round and showing us the different rooms, third she could not have worked harder to juggle rooms around to get us the kind of room we needed all before we had committed to staying there. We had said we had two other places to see first and she had originally told us that the Saturday was fully booked but as it was a wedding they often had last minute cancelations. She took our number when we were leaving and told us that she would call for confirmation on all the wedding guests. By the time we had reached the second venue Donna had called to say she had a room for the 6 nights we needed and agreed a price with us for our stay. I loved the other two venues but The De Trafford’s position in Alderly and the effort made by Donna to make us welcome made it impossible to stay anywhere else. Then we got a fantastic room for the price, good service all round and a good pub on site. Looks like we have found our new go to hotel in the Manchester area. Thank you Donna.

A very nice pub with excellent food(haggis and venison, chicken and chorizo…) and a good atmosphere. We had a very friendly server in Megan, who looked after us magnificently. It’s comfortable and hospitable, a bit expensive but certainly one to visit again.

Immediate reaction to how it looked was what a nice pub, old skool fittings, lots of little cubbyhole hole feeling seating areas without feeling cramped. beers on tap well maintained could maybe benefit from a greater variety 4 ‘ales’ 2 being ipa’s. Didn’t do food maybe another time. My only let down on this place was the staff, they weren’t busy and it was like me and the bloke I was getting the round in with were invisible they kept serving other people(in some cases being passed over for ppl they knew) Price wise £3ish per pint reasonable for the area Quite nice wasnt overly busy for a saturday night, but enough ppl to feel like an atmosphere
