I dont even know where or how to start this review. We were told that they would shuttle you from the Gran Melia to this restaurant. Great! So out driver showed up on time and our party left for the 20 min or so to the restaurant. Carlos ‚“our driver” is also the«bartender» «server» etc. Went out of his way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. So we ordered 3 drinks(one mojito amd two rum and cokes) and a bottle of wine. They started running around as if we ordered 10 drinks. So they dont have Regular Bacardi, only 151 proof Bacardi and an oak barrel age rum. So we made our choice and after 15 to 20 mins we got our drinks and mostly all got water in their water glass except for my husband. So the driver/server/bartender takes some of our order and then leaves. We are now stuck with the manager who does not speak much English and seems as if he does not what is going on. So now the food order goes in and we wait and wait(listening to crickets now… Not wait coquis). After about an hour the food starts to come out. It is ok, nothing special. So the driver comes back and has to take another couple back to the hotel. Meanwhile, we are finished our meal and our water which no one came back to refill. Finally the driver returns and we are told that we have to pay cash because credit card server was down. Anyway., after 3 hours of time being held captive we were taken back to our hotel. PS. The décor is so awesome

This restaurant is a hidden gem we only knew about because my husband worked with our hotel(Gran Melia) beforehand. We went in the evening for dinner and was waited on by Jose and Carlos. Absolutely amazing food, service and ambience. This food way surpassed the food at our resort. Would love to return especially during the day to see the amazing views!

The wine selection was splendid with accurate pricing. Unfortunately we did not leave early enough to catch sight of the view. The restaurant is on a plot of land which supply’s beach horse back tours, and atv rides. The food was wonderful and service was kind. The portions are huge so be sure to bring your appetite and stay a while. We were hard pressed to find a place on the island that we enjoyed more than this as all other options are set up as small shacks.

I booked this restaurant at the last minute for a group of 30 – 40 coworkers through the Gran Melia concierge. It was on a night that they would have been closed, but the specially opened for us! I can’t imagine how they scrambled to get cooks and wait staff together to accommodate our group. The restaurant was beautiful and out of the way. We went at night – but i bet the views in the daytime are absolutely incredible. I remember the food being great. But the service was just spectacular.

I read some of the reviews about this place and was looking forward to enjoying a nice meal to a wonderful view. The location is a bit out of the way, so you really have to want to go there — it’s on top of a hill, but the view was worth the drive. There is a nice patio outside and the inside is pretty nice. The ambiance would make you a little uncomfortable if you dressed too casually, so dress nicer than what you wore trekking through the rainforest. It was a bit pricier than I was expecting, especially for the wines. However there was a vast selection of wines to choose from. The dishes on the menu sound really nice, but I was a bit disappointed in the quality. The vegetables were a bit over cooked and some of the sauces were a bit too heavy. The presentation was there, but the quality made me wish I had paid a lot less for a similar meal elsewhere. Still a wonderful view, good service and upscale ambiance. It was too pricey for the quality I received, so I’d recommend it for a nice place to enjoy an evening drink and dessert.

This restaurant was such a pleasant surprise. Referred by a friend went las night. To start the view of the coast is breathtaking and this set the tone for a relax evening. The staff was very welcoming. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the décor is of great taste. You have the option of sitting outside for a candle light dinner surrounded by nature or inside with good air conditioning which was my choice. The restaurant has a excellent wine selection and full bar. The menu has good choices. For appetizers, the churrasco tapas was a good choice. The serrano ham and cheese platter is a classic and you never go wrong with that option. Dinner was a surf and turf with a veg risotto. Others in my party had the fresh dorado and it was delicious. Chef Luis Guzman greeted the table and ensure everything was to our liking. Good food, good service, nice ambiance… definitely going back.

Wonderful spot in NE corner of Puerto Rico in Luquillo. The restaurant is in the foothills of the El Yunque rain forest. The views are spectacular. The interior is lovely but we really loved the outdoor patio. I wasn’t expecting the food to be so fantastic, but the fresh fish filet in lemon caper sauce was as good as any pricey restaurant in the US or Europe! Highly recommend this family owned spot!

Perfect drinks at sunset location and probably the most stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. All surrounded by perfect lush greenery… Amazing!

La Cava de Terroir is a hidden gem inside La Hacienda Carabalí in the town of Luquillo. The restaurant sits on a hill with a breathtaking view of the ocean. You can also see the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar resort at a distance. As soon as you walk through the door you are greeted with the warmest hospitality around. I was treated like family. The ambiance is that of a trendy restaurant/lounge bar. The restaurant boasts some of the best wines in a beautiful«cava.» For those of you that are local, you might want to look into their membership that allows you to have a mini wine cellar. There you can bring your own wines to enjoy your meals with. There are no corkage fees for members and they also give you 10% off any wine purchased from their list. The menu has many different options to choose from. Their tapas are amazing, especially the goat cheese and chicken empanadillas. They were by far my favorite. If you want to order a main dish but it has a side you might not particularly like, they make it really easy for you to substitute it with another side item of your choice. The service here is exceptional. A great date night but it won’t be cheap!

I have been to La Cava about 4 times during my stay in Puerto Rico and every time it’s been a very different experience. Nothing is ever bad and you from my experience, you can’t really go wrong with anything you choose. I went once with my girlfriend thinking the lamb and risotto, so about a week or 2 later we went back, had the lamb risotto but also tried the grouper with risotto. The lamb, though still a great choice, wasn’t the same as it was the first time, but the grouper and risotto was the winner this night. I would have given this a 5 star but it’s a bit over priced and slightly inconsistent in flavor. Don’t take that as a reason not to come, it’s easily one of my favorite spots on the East side and beats the heck out of the garbage the hotels are slopping together and gouged prices and resort fees for. Come business casual or dress up, both are accepted here. If you’re a local and want a classy meal or a great date spot, come here. If you’re a tourist and want a better meal with a much better view at the same price you’re paying your hotel, come here. Either way, come here.
