Growing up just around the corner from these premises meant seeing a whole bunch of restaurants come and go in this space. The Esplanade appears to have some staying power, and it’s easy to see why — taking away the glorious views of Eastern Beach that have always been there, the food is something to really be enjoyed.
I was a real brat when I went here for dinner. I should have got something fancy but I just decided to have good old fish and chips. At the last minute my partner pointed out that there was some pretty tasty looking coriander-​crusted tuna on the menu, so I grabbed it on a whim. I am SO GLAD I got this dish. It is the best tuna I’ve ever had in my life, bar none. I’d go so far as to say I’ve been spoiled for other tuna now. Damn you, Esplanade.

If you are looking for restaurant to go around Eastern or Bucklands Beach then this has got to be the place. Its located right next to the beach so has great views of Eastern Beach.
You can either come here for a drink or two after your visit to the beach or make it a night and come and have dinner and drinks here.
Note though that not all the tables have the views and if what you really want is the view, then just come and have a drink and sit outside and perhaps just order some chips from the tapas menu, thats what we did.

You can’t get much better than a restaurant on the beach, and this place is no exception. The Esplanade Restaurant and Bar is across the road from the lovely Eastern Beach out in East Auckland. It’s tucked away near the far end, so you can go for a lovely, barefoot walk in the sand afterwards without being disturbed. The inside and outside have a romantic ambience due to the tactfully placed lights. I’ve been here for a surprise dessert at night, and a coffee catch up during the day: both times I enjoyed it very much and the waiters were always great.
A recommendation for the lovebirds or those just wanting to go out somewhere classy with a group of friends.
