It’s pretty damn Goode. Excuse the pun. We had the seafood platter. It was very very nice. Huge. Didn’t need the bruschetta we ordered for entrée. We may have been able to finish it if we hadn’t ordered an entrée. The bruschetta was weird anyway, not your usual bruschetta. Soaking in vinegar(I hate vinegar). But the main made up for it in droves. The prawn twisters delicious. Squid was delicious. The Vegas very nice. Olives great. Bread with feta and the basil pesto dip available on the platter made a better bruschetta. Couldn’t finish it all. We left the deep fried fish as it was a bit too greasy. A great portion for a hungry two. Very well priced also. Nice ambience. Friendly staff. Quick to bring out the meals too which is fantastic when you’re starving. Over all A+

This venue will not let couples book a table. Twice we have been to this restaurant and asked to book a table for my wife and I prior to seeing a movie and twice we have been refused as they prefer larger bookings not couples. Shame on you… especially on Valentines weekend. We will not be refused a 3rd time.

Its a good solid consistent restaurant, go there see if you like the style, and i go there alot, its always busy. Appears to have sadly no regulars posting reviews. The salads are good. The menu is cool you can make up your own food if the pizza, pasta, salad ideas are not tempting your appetite at the time. There hasn’t been anything bad happen that i can put it down for. It has big servings and a kids menu and im there alot.

The food is just as great as the atmosphere at Goode Brothers. I thoroughly enjoyed my ceaser salad and my partner really liked his chicken sandwich. I highly recommend Goode Brothers as they are reasonably priced and the food is very well worth the money.

Good place, good food. The lamb salad is my favorite I think it’s one of their best meals. The burgers are good too but they’re way to big for my liking. Most of their staff are nice and welcoming — it really just depends on who you get when you walk in. I like the outdoor seating arrangement that they have even in winter it’s quite nice and cosy to sit outside.

We have been to the Goode Brothers a few times now. Today we tried the grilled fish and chips. It was pretty disappointing with very little flavour on the fish. Previously we have tried a few pizzas and they are usually pretty good. The base is crispy and all the ingredients are fresh. I would go here again for lunch and grab a pizza but I wouldn’t go there for any special occasion. Also the service can be a bit hit and miss

I had been recommended to eat here when next in Botany. We had the Roast Garlic and Herb Pizza Bread for Entrée. I had Gnocchi with Chicken, bacon, mushrooms and onion with cream sauce, and my wife had Beef Cannelloni with Italian tomato and creamy cheese sauce, topped with mozzarella. Both our meals were plentiful in their size. In fact, after such a large portion of Entrée’s I sadly had to ask for a take away box for my Mains. Guess what I am having for lunch tomorrow? The staff were friendly and efficient, I had to smile when I asked the waitress for a take away box, and she asked if I wanted anything else :-)

Goode Brothers is on target to become the pre-eminent eating & drinking establishment in East Auckland. Having just extended into the old Mexicali Fresh premises(which won’t be missed by the way), there are now two distinct personas inside. The original area is now firmly an eatery and where once there were occasions when boisterous drinkers interfered the folk just wanting a meal. Next door is a spacious bar that I’m sure will be the location of many a great night of fun. Next up is an extension to the outside area that will take advantage of the great weather here in Auckland. I for one can’t wait!

Am I the only one who likes eating here? Ever the site for my friends and I to have catch up drinks, as well as a good dinner. The menu is pretty standard — pizza, pasta, burgers, chips etc. I do love their vegetarian pesto pasta, and I had a pizza today with artichokes, olives, spinach, tomato, onion and mozarella, which was pretty damn tasty. The place is always packed, especially on weekend-nights, and they have live music playing every Sunday. The sheltered little outdoor area is a nice place to eat on a warm night. The best thing in my opinion about this place is the Toblerone cocktails they do. Simply awesome.

When Goode Brothers opened, I wandered in for a coffee and some food expecting something amazing. The food was so unmemorable, I don’t even recall what I had, and the coffee was so bitter, I just couldn’t finish it. Not a great first impression. As a barista, the only reason why coffee would taste that way is if you a) didn’t clean the coffee machine or b) the beans were ground too early and aren’t fresh. Either problem shows the baristas are poorly trained. For a restaurant with a fairly interesting modern interior, with it’s interesting whisk-like lights and different coloured seating, this place does not live up to the standards it boasts. Training their baristas properly and a decent menu would transform Goode Brothers into a MUCH better restaurant.

I hate to say it but I have never been a fan of Goode Brothers, far from it in fact. I have however given it many a chance to redeem itself, particularly as my friends are all fans. I really can not give the wine list any points, it is a poorly chosen list where taste does not deserve the price the wines are given. The food is hit and miss for me, I have learnt to share a pizza with a friend– though it kills me to spend so much money on one pizza that I could get at Hell’s or Domino’s for half the price. However, despite the dislike I hold of the wine list and the menu, Good Brothers does deserve points for their outside area which is very cute, and the fact their toilets are clean.

Goode Brothers, with a prime spot in Botany Downs, should be a memorable spot with a great local feel and unfortunately it doesn’t hit the mark for me. The food is somewhat good, but for the most part, I’ve noticed the service standards have not been as good as they used to be. I’ve visited the establishment quite a few times, and while the bartenders tend to get it right, I’ve had my order botched more than once by the waitresses. Even a simple drink order of pineapple juice went completely wrong, and I was definitely unimpressed. I do really enjoy its layout, especially the covered outdoor area which they’ve done up very well. In the end, Goode Brothers is a very basic gastropub and definitely not Barworks’ best effort. A little more work on the service and a bit more finesse food-wise may make a visit worth your money.
