This place has amazing cocktails! Their Italian bartender doesn’t cut corners and takes his time to prepare some delicious goodness. We tried his bellinis and white chocolate martini — yum! The pizza was very good as well.

Oh yes the eateries of Beach road surely received a good amount of attention from myself during the few months of my last trimester as I wound down my work hours in the evenings for a company located about 2 minutes walk from Pizza Fresco. I have tried a few items on the menu at this pizza/pasta takeaway or dine in one stop parlour, located opposite the car park to Auckland CBD’s largest supermarket. Pizza’s that have stood out to me on the menu, Kashmir Roasted Chicken; which had a spicy tandoori flavour to it, and the Paris Chicken and Cranberry with Brie gourmet pizza– which is just a favorite of mine. Service was great, super friendly guys that work there, are always happy and helpful. Good seating looking out on Tangihua street, pleasant beats, and lots of magazines to read should you be waiting for a takeout. There pasta’s are descent also, but if your a true Italian foodie, not as authentic as you can find in other places.

I stopped here with a friend and my partner after the Vodafone Music Awards last year. I’d passed this place so many times but had never really thought to step foot in it, but on this particular night we managed to slip in a take out order just before they closed the kitchen. Despite our bad timing, the staff were really great about it and the wait for our pizza wasn’t long at all. While waiting we got to peruse the menu a bit and seemed like your usual pizza place, but with very reasonable prices, especially if you’re sharing with friends. On the menu alone I thought it may be worth coming back to try something else at a later date, but our pizza spoke for itself. Their pepperoni pizza was the best I’d had in a long time; eedless to say I went through a very big basil pesto phase after this night. The pizza was just the right amount of greasiness, cheesiness and meatiness. Not being a student in the city anymore, I haven’t had a chance to get back there it’s on my list!

If you don’t live around this area, this hidden pizza place is quite hard to find and a little bit out of the way. However, if you know where the big countdown is in the city, then it’s right next door to that. Good quality gourmet pizzas here, but like all good things they come at a price. If you are on a tight budget, they do have some special deals that are usually written outside on the blackboard, such as pizza of the day and some different combo deals, and these seem to change every now and then. Some of the toppings are rather inventive, and I haven’t had a bad pizza here yet. Fresh ingredients, great taste, and a good time had by all.

I remember vowing that never again would pasta from generic pizza chains pass my lips(I used to work at one of said generic pizza chains and the pasta there was dreadful). So we have reached the part of our story where our heroine has sworn off bad pasta for life. She was dragged out to dinner by her stubborn friend and was unduly converted at Pizza Fresco. Order of the day here is cheap n cheerful. Real quality ingredients are used in their gourmet pizzas and other meals. Deciding to go with the Chicken Caesar salad I was blown away by the amount of chicken that was in this thing! Coupled with a yummy poached egg and crunchy croutons I was more than happy. Happy enough to even try my friends carbonara pasta which was great too. See miracles do happen.

If you’re looking for a decent pizza at a great price, Pizza Fresco has it. There is a rather extensive pizza menu with interesting internationally inspired flavours with entrees, salads and pasta also available. The bruschetta is very good, I think on account of the basil infused olive oil. The last time I went my pizza was made in under 15 minutes! Plus you can see straight through into the kitchen and watch your pizza being made from scratch. Pizza Fresco is a little out of the way but worth scouting out, they have a few booths so you can chill out and eat in if you want. Staff are great too.
