One star for the struggling waitress that helped us, but then it all ends right there. We checked out the menu, and the prices seemed decent. Since it was a lovely day, we said«Lets do the patio.» They set it up, we sat down and a larger party three times the four of us decided to do the patio as well. Now, it was bad enough the staff kept hitting my buddy because there’s little space between tables. But it was another thing, that they blocked off their own main entrance with five patio tables just to accommodate the larger party. Talk about«fire hazard!» They took our drink orders and said they’ll also provide water. Our lunch order was taken. Fine. After about 15 minutes later our drinks finally came out. Slow slow slow, holy crap, it’s gonna be a long day! Anyways, my wine glass was dirty too. My buddy ordered a second glass of beer which was forgotten. My homegirl’s mixed drink came out probably 20 minutes later. Finally the water came and they only gave us three glasses; Umm, hello, there’s four of us. And holy crap, how many white particles can I count in my glass of water, eek! Another couple walked in and got seated on the patio as well. Their order taken, and of all the things we did NOT wanna see. They get served before us. Yeah, good going Neptune! You guys really gotta get your act together. 45 – 50 minutes pass, we still waited… We conversed about the movies, t.v. shows, Albert Park, the University, played«F, marry, or kill», I started up my one-star review, tic tic tic etc etc etc. We were all starving, so we decided to tough it out. 55 – 60 minutes, still nothing. And OHLOOK, the other couple that came in after us, finished their meal, paid, and took off. Seriously? Over an hour plus of waiting… We drew the line and bounced. Spare yourself, there are other restaurants in the area that are more organized. This one needs a visit from Jon Taffer, BARRESCUEALERT!!!

We were just stopping for a coffee but the menu and staff were so great that we ended up having dinner and we weren’t disappointed. Great food, the 3 of us that dined thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Definitely going back and recommending it to friends. Oh and did I say how great the staff were, well done!

Came here on a Friday night. They had a lamb shank special at a fairly decent price so we decided to try it. Contrary to the other ratings, the service was very good. The food was excellent the lamb and size or seasoned very well. We were kind of surprised since this is a tourist area. We enjoyed our dinner.

Terrible service. It took forever for our food to come. One dish didn’t show up. They were out of 2 of the beers we asked for. We asked what the beers on tap were, it took 5 minutes for them to check with the kitchen, and the response was«a lager and a pale ale». We asked what the«seasonal vegetable» on the menu was, and after a long wait, the waitress said pumpkin and mushrooms, neither of which actually ended up in the dish… The food was mediocre at best for the price. There are many reasons why this place is empty when neighboring restaurants are full. The others are worth the wait.

We popped in here after camping on Rangitoto for the night. We were feeling a little self conscious because the eateries in the area seemed a little high brow. However the girl outside was very friendly and welcoming so we took a chance on it. We started with the spicy prawns which were delicious. The flavours were fresh, and the hotness level was just right. The prawns were cooked perfectly. For the mains we ordered the ribs and fish and chips. These were a little bit disappointing after how amazing the prawns were. I didnt like the sauce that the ribs were in, but this could be a personal taste issue. I dont like the smokey sauces. The fish and chips was good. The batter was light and not too greasy. I dont think I would order mains there again but would go for a few nibbles instead. Overall this was a good experience. It is so relaxing to sit in the sun with a glass of wine and just watch the world passing by. I

Great vistas and seafood nice easy 80’s and 90’s rock playing in the background with ships sailing in and out in front of you. Chowder and Prawn /Calamari Fettuccine were very good and huge in portion size. I like a bit more spice but most will like the taste. Good unobtrusive service excellent wifi for those who want to get caught up with their networks.

Tried this place out because we have an Entertainment Book and have had great success at other restaurants at the vicinity. Not overly impressed with the wine list, and the chef was yelling at a couple of the waiter/esses right in front of us, but otherwise, our ‘date night’ experience here was fantastic. We started with the garlic bread, huge portion. Mr had the surf and turf, and burnt himself on the hot plate trying to get at the yummy sauce(it was pretty good!). I had the poussin, beautifully cooked and delicious, but why, oh way, do chefs use paprika dusting over a meal as a garnish! Couldn’t eat the salad as it was coated with it. Very reasonable price for a good standard of meal, and good service(especially when an old guy toppled out of his chair, he’d backed it over the top of a downward step after a bottle of wine!). We would come here again.

It has been a while since I’ve visited, and looking at other’s experiences this place gets mixed reviews, mostly about the service but sometimes the food as well. My mum and I used to come here for a regular weekend lunch, mostly because of the convenient disabled park right next to it, hard to find in the viaduct. But we became regulars because an older guy who I think was the owner used to welcome us and offer great service. My mum also loved all the fresh seafood, while I’m partial to a bit of pan-fried snapper and a glass of sav. Perhaps it has changed owners since but I’d like to hope it’s stayed the same.

It’s extremely busy along the Viaduct on a Saturday night, but Neptune Café and Bar was more than happy to accommodate us. Their restaurant feels very ocean-like inside with it’s blue, swirly theme, and the fact it’s right on the harbour adds wonderfully to the ambience. Everyone at my table thoroughly enjoyed their meals. When things took a while to come, they decided to give us a discount, which was extremely kind! I also happened to spill some water, but they were absolutely fab at cleaning it up in a jiffy. Check this place out sometime when you’re looking for a fishy twist to your day!
