Ummm, really good and the staff super friendly and knowledgable. The view and ambience was top notch with lots of interesting views and harbour activities to keep us busy. Located in the beautiful ferry building in downtown harbour Auckland we stayed quite entertained by the comings and going a of all the ferry commuters and various harbor actives. This restaurant has an awesome location. We ate early, about 5:15 with not a lot of other dinner guests surrounding us. Great as we really chatted up the sommelier and wait staff and they didn’t seem to mind. Our first time to New Zealand we were eager to understand the culture and get tidbits of advice as we work our way down this lovely country. So, the food. Well, we ordered a green salad which had iceberg lettuce, celery, avocado and dressing. Everything was fresh but the salad was a little too overdressed. The fish of the day was grouper like and too meaty and overlooked for me. Not sure, but didn’t taste too fresh either given Aukland is a huge port with a lot of boats. However, being from the NWUSA I am a little spoiled. I also had a side of potato purée which was really good and creamy but not too much so. My husband ordered a seafood chowder which was excellent. I did have a spoonful and it was rich with flavor, fresh seafood and veggies. I did have a great time and would recommend this little gem, just beware of a real meaty fish.

In order to combat the mugginess that seems to have taken over our Auckland this summer, we decided to have a seaside lunch today at Harbourside in the CBD. Located in Auckland’s beautiful Ferry Building, Harbourside boasts an impressively breath-taking view of the water, with ample balcony space for diners to enjoy. The menu definitely takes advantage of beautiful local NZ produce with an emphasis on seafood, and with so many great options we really struggled to make our choices! Featured above is the prettiest steak and cheese pie I’ve ever eaten, let alone seen. It consisted of a shortcrust pastry and pulled braised beef on a bed of pea purée. I’m happy to report in this case it tasted just as good as it looks! We also tried the Crispy Squid, Marker Fish with Caponata(translation: eggplant) and the Scallop and Scampi with Chilli. All the dishes were pure quality and pretty as a picture to boot. All in all, if you’re looking for a Masterchef worthy meal, in a beautiful location, look no further, Harbourside is your place

Short notice booking for two on a weeknight in a prominent waterfront restaurant in summer — no problems there. In short food and service were excellent and timed well. I would really struggle to find fault — though the ‘music’ was not to my taste… What we had? Some oysters to start — smaller size — which is what I prefer — served with a vinaigrette. I think next time I won’t use all of it for just half a dozen as it overpowered the oysters a little. Pork belly — pork 3 ways. All cooked perfectly. For someone of my appetite I preferred a small side to accompany it(asparagus in lemon butter). Hapuka seared fillet — again, cooked well. Served with beansprout salad and some tasty crispy squid. Excellent cheese platter and affogato to finish. The cheese portion seemed small at first but the accompaniments were very tasty(date chutney? Fruit paste and grapes). Highly recommended, though don’t forget your wallet ;o)

We only stopped in for a brief drink so I can’t give this a true rating, but the menu looked amazing and the view pretty spectacular so we might be back for a special occasion. If you wanted somewhere special to take someone you wanted to impress this would be a great bet!

Classy and elegant. Just the way some like them. I found it the place and menu worth entertaining but settled on a brew. Very nice staff.

For me, nothing beats having a tall, cold glass of beer in the sunshine in a lovely location, with a view, and this place has all of that. The sofas on the patio were reserved, but we had a great time seated at a high top just taking in the view and relaxing, after a long walk around the city. The stucco colored building that the restaurant/bar is located in is gorgeous. So much so that I can’t tell if it’s been restored or just built to look like you’ve been swept back in time 50 years. The restaurant has black and white French décor with a modern twist, the walls of wine in glass enclosures could be art. The service was excellent and the view of the harbor and the ferry’s coming and going was very relaxing. This is a spot for a business lunch, a romantic dinner or just a place to enjoy some wine and sunshine. If I lived here, this would be my after work(weekend night out or place to entertain out of town guests) go-to spot, hands down.

Overpriced. Food was average. Service was ok. View was nice but I wouldn’t go there again.

I had two sushi rolls and they were excellent. Very fresh and tasty. And the presentation was creative.

I just looked at their website — they have events planned in March — don’t think they are closed! Interesting set-up in a historic harborfront building, you take an elevator up to the floor the restaurant is on. Very nice set-up inside. We didnt have a reservation and were probably underdressed but still got great service. Table was out on the deck, under a heat lamp to stay comfortable, and with a fantastic view of the harbor. Started with very fresh sashimi, then tried the fried chicken we saw on the bar menu. Never thought that as someone who lives in the Southern US, that one of the best places I’ve ever had fried chicken was in New Zealand. Then we had the Moreton Bay bug and the steak, both expertly prepared. Yes this place is a bit expensive, but not much more than restaurants that were far inferior.

When I walked into this place to meet my parent I felt as though I was severely underdressed. The place is so posh, I didn’t know whether I would be kicked out or not as I obviously looked like a poor student who definitely couldn’t afford to dine here. But no, the staff were very nice and they escorted me to where my parents were having a drink out on the balcony. The view was so beautiful, overlooking the ferry terminal and the harbour. We had a few drinks and watched the busy world move by below us. We didn’t try any of the food here as it was well out of our price range, but the drinks were good, the staff were great and the location was superb. I would love to come back here for dinner on a special occasion.
