Grind On

Met my partner for lunch in Ellerslie and decided to try this café. Unfortunately, it was not a great experience and we will definitely not be back.
I don’t think I have ever had a worse coffee. My latte was so bitter, I couldn’t even finish the small size. My partners cappuccino was no better. Even the 2 chocolate jaffas that come with the coffees could not make up for how bad they were.
For lunch we ordered the open chicken sandwich, which came with chips and the vegetarian bagel.
The chicken sandwich was not bad except for the massive chunks of uncooked onion. The bread was tasty and the portion size was generous.
The bagel was a bit strange. You had to construct the bagel yourself. I was disappointed that the bagel was not toasted, and the avocado was bruised. The ingredients did not feel fresh to me, and I did not enjoy the experience at all.
They did advertise that they will start a new menu soon, so maybe somebody can try that — it may be an improvement.

morning tea time, coffee and a yummy triple vanilla milkshake and it was big! service was attentive, highchairs on offer and lots of room.

Really really good prices, once you can get the attention of the not very busy staff, they are willing to adjust menu items to suit. The bathroom located down in through the minimall is clean. Surrounds feel like they are wannabe retro, doesn’t quite feel right. Marks off though for the mediocre food. We had breakfast and the eggs bene had packet sauce, the big breakfast was very average. I didn’t test the coffee but was told it tasted good.
