I was on the hunt for a beautiful bottle of wine. It couldn’t just be any bottle though… it had to impress the pants off my Father in Law, a man who has a whole cellar of beautiful wine. My original plan was to just choose the most expensive bottle from the wine aisle at the supermarket and shove a ribbon on it. And then I panicked. What if he asked me where it was from? Or what the key notes were? Glengarry to the rescue! They were awesome; they took me straight to the shelves and pulled out a few options. I ended up with a gorgeous bottle of Rioja and I didn’t even have to remember the facts, it came with little card (phew). It was a little pricey, so perfect for a gift. I knew that I had nailed it when the bottle wasn’t opened that night but went straight to the cellar, success!

When we lived in Ellerslie, we used to love coming to Glengarry’s Ellerslie to pick up our wine, we would always find something a bit different here than you would ever find in the supermarket, even if they do have cheap wine.
But what Glengarry’s Ellerslie has is a couple of staff members who really like wine and know all the history behind a lot of wines and wines from different countries. So we weren’t just going to buy wine, we were going for a bit of a lesson, something you would never get in a supermarket. Its also great to come here if you want something for a special occasion.
We often tried wine we wouldn’t have normally bought because of their advice, and it was still good wine at good prices, and they do often have specials in store.

Glengarry Ellerslie is a wine, beer and spirit specialist. Located in the heart of the Ellerslie shops, it cannot be missed. There is no customer parking but there is plenty of street parking in the area.
I find Glengarry useful when I’m in a rush and need to pick something up quickly before heading out for the evening. They occasionally have some good specials, however Glengarry is generally on the more expensive side. They mainly deal with premium champagnes and wines making it a very prestigious liquor outlet. However they do offer tastings if requested. Glengarry also has merchandise for sale such as wine glasses or decanters.
Glengarry in Ellerslie conveniently has ice available for sale. Furthermore they have glass hire and delivery if you’re having a party and need some extra glass to accommodate your guests.
