The best bar I’ve ever been to and I’m from New York City and have traveled the world. I will buy a plane ticket to come back to this bar. MUST STOP AND VISIT.

A visit to this bar is a must for any lover of quality cocktails. Local beer is also available at more than reasonable prices.

Alex and Francie, proprietors of bar la playa, are perfect examples of why travel is food for the soul… our souls ate well this past week my friends… from the artfully crafted cocktails to the down-​home friendliness
of its patrons… we found a home we did not realize we had in puerto vallarta… okay…enough gushing… sit at the bar! it is a five star show watching alex craft every drink from its very basic elements to absolute perfection… the selection of liquors and wines seems endless… the beers are ice cold… seating is hard on the bum… so get up and dance a little if necessary… you are not going to want to leave anytime soon, try every flavor of margarita on the board… then call a cab… best drinks we have found anywhere in PV… and the best people to boot! Ask Francie what she is cooking when you are there… from sliders to wings… guarantee you will not be disappointed… great t shirts and koozies are a must as well… like you are ever going to forget this little jewel anytime soon!

Went here based on reviews and it was awesome. The bartenders were extremely nice (and generous). Great location and easy to get there. The drinks were perfect and very unique. For what you get, amazing prices.

I wish our hotel was closer to the city, because if it was I would have come here every day. The owners are really lovely people and on top of it, they make awesome drinks and snacks! The jalapeño margarita was out of this world, homemade bar nuts which are a little sweet and a little spicy, and even delicious jell-​o shots that are made in strawberries and are SOOOO delicious!!! We had a flight of tequila which was all part of a wonderful tasting experience as well. This is the top of my recommendation list for anyone who comes to PV.

Alex is a true artist when it comes to mixing cocktails. Every drink we had was a masterfully balanced blend of fresh ingredients, often including fresh herbs. One drink featured raspberries and basil, while another combined fresh passionfruit and bourbon. Every drink was delicious and Francine and Alex where charming and friendly hosts. To top it off, when we asked about a place to get tacos, Alex called in our order and had it delivered to our table! I highly recommend stopping in for a delicious cocktail (or two or three).

Just spent a month in Puerto Vallarta and after having discovered Bar La Playa I must admit to being there several times a week. Among the reasons, it is just near the beach, it is run by two of the sweetest young people, Francine and Alex, and the drinks are a very friendly pour.
It is a tiny space, you can sit on stools just inside, but most fun is outside on the sidewalk at tables hewn from tree stumps with Mexican handmade chairs and candles on every table. Sometimes Francine changes out the regular peanuts for her own special blend of mixed nuts, savory and sweet. An awesome treat!
