Recently, my friend and I went to Bangkok Beat for dinner since she said that they have the best tomyam ever. As a tomyam enthusiast, I had to give this place a go. It was a fairly big restaurant with a nice interior and a cool vibe. We both ordered the clear tomyam soup since she recommended it and we had mango sticky rice for dessert. The tomyam was good and full of flavors bursting in my mouth. It was really up to my expectations and I’m glad I decided to give it a go. The mango sticky rice(my favourite Thai dessert) was so nice as the sweetness of the mango complemented the creamy coconuty sticky rice. A really great combo. I haven’t been there since my first time but writing this review is already making me crave for it. I shall go there for dinner real soon!

Empire shopping gallery has several eateries for you to choose from, one of which stands out from the typical western diners, ‘The Bangkok Beat Bistro’. This Thai joint serves a concoction of thai delights with a fusion touch. Contrary to the standard Thai ornaments & settings, this place seems like a breath of fresh air. Capturing more of the city life in the bustling streets of Bangkok, the wall paintings depict certain tourist spots known to many. This place is halal as they have eliminated the pork from the menu. For me particularly, I found their appetizers & noodles very interesting & tasty. The fish cake(otak-otak) had a different taste to it considering the fact that its usually grilled, this was fried instead. I found the glass noodles to be very simple but satisfying, not dried & tasteless. The medley of sweet, sour & spiciness in their tom yum was simply delish! I would definitely recommend this if you up for some thai food with a twist. be warned though, this place is relatively more expensive than the usual thai eateries.

Most of the time when I want Thai food I head to Thai Thai or Absolute Thai. One day my family and I decided to try this place on a whim. The service here is outstanding. All the staff were so attentive, even during the busy lunch hour an always made sure our glasses were never empty and the manager even stopped to ask us how was the food and if everything was alright etc. I ordered a Thai Pina Colada because I didn’t know such a thing even existed. Turns out it was just sprite with some pineapple chunks and a couple of scoops of coconut ice cream. The coconut ice cream was delicious and tasted really creamy and as though It were real coconut flesh(I was really disappointed to learn later on that they don’t serve it as a dessert option but they really should). My mum ordered fresh coconut juice which came served in a chilled coconut. The Thai Fish Cakes were cooked perfectly and filled with fresh herbs and spices. Something I recommend everyone should try is the Steamed Groupa with Spicy Garlic Lime sauce. It’s spicy but not too overwhelmingly spicy to the point where you’ll be continuously gulping down iced water but spicy enough to bring out the garlic lime flavor in the fish. Though keep in mind there are countless tiny bones in the groupa no matter now much you try to avoid them. The Salted Fish and beansprouts are also a favorite of mine whenever i eat here. Along with the Papaya Salad, which is light and refreshing.

If you’re looking for good Thai food, Bangkok Beat Bistro has a lot to offer. All of their different curries are made with the sure result that they will be creamy and tasty. I really enjoyed their soft shell crab with yellow curry and am a huge fan of their green curry chicken. As for vegetables, their kang kong with sambal is not all that spicy but tasty just as it is. But what really got me was their desserts; both their mango sticky rice and their banana tempura with hot caramel sauce did not look mouth watering but tasted amazing. This bistro is located in Empire Subang so parking is available within the mall.

One of the better Thai Restaurants I’ve been to that can actually serve a non-watered down, creamy Thai green curry is Bangkok Beat. A definite must try here is the Soft Shell Crab with Yellow Curry that is pretty damn unbelievable. However do keep in mind that they are definitely more on the pricey side compared to other Thai places in malls such as Amarin Thai in Midvalley and Basil in Bangsar Village 1. Portions can be relatively small as well but they really do capture that authentic Thai flavour that some places seem to lack. Another one of their running promos here which definitely give you more bang for your buck is their Weekend Buffet. The words ‘Whole Day’ and ‘All You Can Eat’ are splashed outside their entrance, a sure way to get the crowd rolling in. Priced at 35.90 for adults and 19.90 for kids, the spread includes soups & appetizers, main courses, various vegetables, staple dishes such as fried rice and desserts as well. Besides that their set lunches on weekdays are a pretty good deal as well. The lunch crowd on weekdays can be pretty big so getting a table may be hard to come by but well worth the wait if you ask me.
