This restaurant is a good alternative to the other Japanese restaurants in the nearby Gamuda Walk. The menu does give you some variety, but not as much as the other restaurants. But one thing that I don’t get is that they play Cantonese music in a Japanese restaurant — I mean, you’ve got the food right, but not the atmosphere? And the paint on the wall. The pink and white of the walls just don’t really match the theme, unlike the outside. I had a sushi/beef set, similarly priced to the one at Rakuzen, with a green tea to go with it. But serving it in a glass? Yeah, sure. This shows that the benchmark for atmosphere and surroundings are quite low, not like the light, earthy tones like the nearby Sanuki Udon and the restaurant that’s overly compared to in this review. But I don’t really mind that they used glass in this restaurant because some other restaurants give you that too. Maybe I just expected more. Sure, it may not be like what you get at the franchises, but it’s pretty decent. And now, the food. Overall, it’s actually pretty good. The beef was a little oily, but it’s still OK. Would have been better with rice. The sushi was good, and so was the miso soup that came with it. Taking in the fruits at the end really seems to help neutralize the saltiness from the food. It’s a little pricey, but overall, it’s definitely better than your average restaurant, if you take off the bad points of the atmosphere. So if you’re looking for some Japanese food, but don’t like the crowdedness of Rakuzen, this is the place. If you prefer something with better atmosphere, however, look elsewhere.

Sashimi is very fresh. Teriyaki chicken texture is cooked just nice. A bit pricey but food quality is excellent.
