Located in an apartment unit that has been transformed into a workshop, the seamstress at Yen Yen Tailor is only known to a handful of customers in the area. She is most well-known among the Malay community who loves to buy their own fabric and allows her to tailor them into Baju Kurungs and Kebayas. The seamstress is rather young, only maybe in her late 30s or early 40s but she was very sporting when I requested her to make me a Korean Jeogori(traditional blouse). I tried requesting other tailors to do it but all of them turned me down with the excuse that they’ve never made one before. One tailor even went as far as to brush my request away rudely by saying they were busy. But Yen Yen jumped at the task enthusiastically and said yes almost immediately, as long as I provided a sample of a real Jeogori. In the end I was extremely satisfied with her work which was meticulous and neat, and her price was very reasonable and within market range.
