Waikiki Bar is an upstairs bar at Syabas Club now renamed PJ Palms. I was happy to discover that the band on Saturday nights does great covers and I danced the night away with my friends! The fans posted all over the bar are in great positions to keep dancers and drinkers cool in the KL heat. The drinks were good, although I was disappointed to find they didn’t have any Jameson and so had to settle for a different whiskey. It put a damper on my mood only a little as I was too busy dancing up a storm. This place is a great place in PJ if you’re in the area. I’m not sure I’d go back to PJ specifically for this bar, but if I were to find myself there, I’d definitely hit up Waikiki Bar to get my groove on.

This water hole has been around for as long as I can remember. Waikiki’s is everyone’s favorite go to bar, heck even my parents! There’s definitely something compelling about this place with the whole tiki settings & al fresco concept. If your big on live bands, beats of all ages especially the classics & in dire need for some moves & shakes then waikiki is just the right place! With majority of the bars & lounges in KL opting for a chic, contemporary & classic settings, waikiki is the complete opposite. With its high rattan bar chairs & dim lighting with old school rotating fans, Waikiki seeks a chilled out simple beach side bar ambiance. This place is usually cramped when you have some local home grown talents on at night however it is also the final spot for all the party goes to pay visit to since they close really late. I can stress enough on how laid back this place is, you could literally walk in with your shorts & flip flops & no wonder would give a damn. So if your looking for that low key yet fun & exciting night then PJ has just the place for you!

If you stay in PJ and would like to go to a place for drinks and listen to a live band, this is the place to be. Located in the new town of PJ, it is easy to access for everyone. Parking can be quite a chore because it always seems packed. You could choose to valet park if you can’t be bother with finding a parking or end up parking far away and having to walk all the way into the bar. You’ll pass by the swimming pool and the club is on the first floor on your left side, the bar isn’t the biggest, most spacious bar around but hey, everyone loves to squeeze around and feel the coziness isn’t it. Go early if you have a big gang so you can get find a spot to sit. Else you’ll find yourself standing around and always in the way of people walking about. There’s a pool table at the end of bar but I’ve never played there because I go for the live band. There is a specific band that plays here which consist of a lady percussionist and they are the only live band my friends and I go for. Also, this bar is catered more for the matured group. You won’t find teenagers here because they will all be at those R&B and hip hop places. Hence the crowd here is a bit more up class and drinks are generally a bit more expensive. Overall great place to enjoy live bands.

Waikiki Bar is a sweet little hideout in Syabas Club that I had visited a few months back with my cousins on a whim. We were all itching for a good unwind session to bring in the weekend, so one of my older cousins decided to round up the gang and hit up Waikiki(which he spoke very highly of). Waikiki’s décor was a very basic Hawaiian luau theme that focused more on being laid back and chill in comparison to a fancy club. The atmosphere was already on a high when we dropped in. There was a live band belting out the oldies as well as taking suggestions from the crowd, which I found both warm and entertaining! Servers there were friendly as well, they really knew their way around mingling with the crowd and always made sure that we were comfortable. We ended the night with an ABBA song and good spirits. Waikiki’s whole atmosphere makes it the ideal spot to have a drink whilst kicking back with family and friends. Definitely a big fan of this place!

This PJ old-timer is like your reliable friend who always give you support when you needed one. While many new establishments are going for modern and contemporary, the setting here might be a little dated and tacky. Tropical theme with tiki hut and bright neon lights? Where are we? 1980’s? Once you’ve overcome that(after your 3rd beer, I presume), Waikiki, like I said is like a good friend who never disappoints. You come here for a beer or two, have a chat with your mate and perhaps sing along to the band who belts out Hotel California. Because on some nights, that’s all you need.

Ever wonder where’s the best place that serves the best Mojito and Chicken Nugget in town? Yeah, hell sure this is the place. It’s open from 10pm onwards daily. It’s also the best place for the music lovers. The live performing musics by the solo artists and the bands were truly amazing. Just a perfect combination with the drinks and the foods. As for me, the tuesday night would be my favorite night because it is a Jazz night. Just a best place to chill around with partners. Surely will be back for more chicken nuggets and jazz.
