If you are not fussy about your Japanese or sushi, then this outlet is passable. But if you are used to be better quality like sushi zanmai or sushi q, then this chain might disappoint you. Even though they might be cheaper than most sushi joints, you do ultimately get subpar quality. But they also have some very worthy value meals during the weekdays from 12pm to 6pm. And they have chosen to absorbed their 6% GST — making themselves even more competitively priced! But their sunway pyramid’s outlet is located in a convenient corner at lower level 1!

I bet every knows Sakae Sushi. It is a franchise sushi restaurant, but why I should give a review on it since everyone know. Okay, I am not going to give details on food they serve and how its interior design is. I am here to give comments on the food quality and services. I have been dining at many outlets of Sakae Sushi, but the one at Sunway Pyramid gave me the WORST experience among all. I thought every chain restaurant provides same and standardized quality of food; but Sakae Sushi at Sunway Pyramid surprisingly gave me another way. I recently dined in with Danny when we had our date at Sunway Pyramid. Sakae Sushi was crowded. The crews were so busy to serve everyone. At first, we didn’t find any bad thing, just wait and one of the crews led us to our table. Ordered like usual and the bad thing came! The sushi rice was not sticky as other branch was. I picked it up, it divided into two. Not only that, you can’t even find any wasabi on the conveyor belt and when we called the crew, none of them responded to us, they saw and asked us to wait. But when he was done with his job, he continued another one instead of serving us beforehand. Furthermore, the sushi plates had a lot of fingerprints and some seems to have leftover water marks on it. Seriously, on the spot, I was thinking whether they really wash the plates before serving to the following customers. We didn’t dare to order more and pay after 3 plates. I truly hope they can improve their service and food quality. Else, I swear I am not going to visit this branch anymore.

Sakae Sushi has been around for ages now and it seems that their standards are having a tough time in the consistency department. We popped in for a quick meal during the lunch our and not only was the place pretty dirty(glasses had stains on it, the plates kept on the table had bits of salmon roe on it when we arrived) but the sushi on the conveyor belt seemed as though it had been there for way too long. We asked for fresh sushi to be made but it was still lacking in freshness. This was my second visit to their Sunway Pyramid outlet and both times our group has left unimpressed by them. It could be just this particular outlet but I have a feeling I won’t be a returning customer in their other outlets either. For such a huge chain, Sakae Sushi really needs to maintain their standards as I used to frequent their other outlets back in the day. Though to be fair it may just be this one particular outlet.
