Food’s good. Service however is average. Workers look overworked and grumpy. Or maybe it is just this particular one.

This is my second visit here. Guess what? No bacon cheese fries or cheese fries. Such a disappointment since I LOVED the fries that I had tried the last time I came here. The burgers here are quite delicious but a tad bit overpriced. A burger at chili’s or carls junior would easily beat Johnny Rockets. The BBQ Chicken Meltz is not good. It’s just two pieces of toasted bread with cheese and chicken with onion ring. Something I can easily make at home. However the staffs here are really cheerful and nice. They also dances really WELL!

Overcooked and salty patties. Might as well eat at McDonald’s. Same crap but cheaper. First time experience was great(KLIA2) tho

It was on Saturday lonely night for me. I had no one for dinner. So called up cousin for a chillout dinner session. Said he was really hungry and looking for huge burger to chomp down! Decided to try out JR as they seem to be filled to the breem on weekends. Settings are good like in small american cafes in 60’s, service is great and attentive! Although have read some good reviews about their burgers, after tasting their Rocket Single quoted best seller, dun think I ever will be back for more. Well, bread was dry and the beef patty too. It was just average meal but quite pricey. I’d rather Carls Jr Burgers at a better reasonable price.

My group of friends and I chanced upon Johnny Rockets and I haven’t had it since I left the US, so I decided to give it a try. 1. Chicken Melt Sandwich 15ringgit Okay, I was a bit surprised to learn that it wasn’t a sandwich flooded with cheese and pressed on a sandwich press. In fact, it took me awhile to find the small slice of swiss cheese in my sandwich. On the bright side, there was one large onion ring, a load of barbecue sauce sauce and a tender piece of chicken. The whole sandwich itself was too much for me to eat. So I ate half and my friend took care of the other half. These are the typical large portions you would find at any American dinner! 2. Oreo Milkshake 13.90ringgit It was more of a ice cream waiting to be melted into a milkshake, the second metal cup was about ¼ full with the remaining portion of the milkshake. It wasn’t the best milkshake I had, but it was okay. I would still think steak and shake 2−3USD milkshakes would beat this hands down! The staff were very friendly and polite, happily greeting everyone that walked past the shop, customer or not.

I remember when it first came to town and everybody went bazonkers for Johnny Rockets. Vintage American diner with performances every half an hour with huge burgers and milkshakes?! #instaworthy right there. I was really excited to come here because I am all for them happy, noisy and cheerful environments. I was practically screaming, «TAKEMYMONEY!» as I saw how exciting and jolly the restaurant was even before I reached it. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to any of my expectations. :(On top of already being so overpriced, the food was a tad below average. Burger bun got soggy after a while because it was thin and even the patty was thin. Milkshake was good though but I wouldn’t applaud it for that because I mean, it really isn’t all that hard to make yourself a great milkshake… The entertainment was fun and interesting but after a while, it got really tiring because it got very repetitive and you are kinda forced to stop eating to watch to not seem rude(or perhaps thats just me). I wouldn’t recommend anybody to come here especially for the price and the quality of food. Boo. But perhaps the ambiance is what really seals it for some loyal customers here.

This Californian based burger franchise is one of the many burger specialty chain stores that is thriving on the fast food trend here in Kuala Lumpur. This american diner gives you the whole 60’s feel similar to the TV series ‘Happy Days’ with the jukebox & red cubicle seating’s & bar stools, dancing waitresses & thick creamy milk shakes. Johnny Rockets may give you more ambiance then anything else. The whole dining experience is what actually gets people hooked. I don’t find this as one of my favorite fast food places as the food here seems extra greasy & oily. I guarantee that you would be having an oily stench on you clothes the minute you leave this place. The only thing I like in this place was their milkshakes & the service. I think trying this place out the first time was more than enough as I don’t see myself going back.

With a surge of burger joints in the Klang Valley, Johnny Rockets looked promising by the way they promoted themselves. I was quite excited to try their burgers since they claimed they are from the US. I had high expectations of this place. However, when I finally get to try it, it was just average. There is nothing to shout about the burger, personally it was just ordinary. Though their milkshakes are good. Other than that, its their entertainment factor. The staff would do a dance every 45 minutes or if requested. At the same time, there’s a little jukebox on every table to choose songs that want to be heard.

Johnny Rocket’s in the Curve took over the space from Theobroma Chocolate café(anyone remember them??) and they re-did their restaurant into a quintessential American diner. There is indoor and outdoor seating so take your pick; although at peak hours you probably won’t get to choose where you want to sit. I came here the second week it was opened and I guess maybe it suffered from teething problems but the staff seemed flustered even though they were pretty empty and my friend and I were waiting for a table with 2 toddlers in tow. We finally had to seat ourselves as no one seemed to know what to do! We shared the Houston burger which has jalapeño peppers and was spicy and tasty. But the service was uneven. I went again with my husband a month later to see if they had worked on their service problems and they seemed much better this time around but then the food was not too good. My husband ordered the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich which was terrible that he barely ate half of it. The prices at this place aren’t cheap either. The one thing that was consistent for me on both visits was the milkshake which was very delicious.

Johnny Rockets finally opened in Malaysia and I had to give it a try when they did. JR is located in the Curve, Mutiara Damansara and its a very big restaurant. You can sit indoors or even outdoors. They have a very creative concept of interior decoration, red and white being the theme colours. These bright and bold colours and designs attract customers. JR is always crowded and sometimes you will have to be on waiting list and that can go on for about 30 minutes. If you want to avoid disappointment, you should either make reservations or show up prior to lunch/dinner hour. The food served at JR are All American Burgers, Sandwiches and Shakes. As appetizing as the food looked, the taste was not up to my expectation. It tasted like a regular burger that I have had in many places. For the price I paid, the quality and taste of food, was not very worth it. I also had their peanut butter milkshake which was a little too sweet and creamy for me but I reckon people who have a sweet tooth will love it. JR also entertain their customers by having the waiters dance to songs every 30 minutes. During my visit, they danced to Gangnam Style and it was very entertaining to watch as the crowd were cheering along. Even passerby’s stopped to watch them dance. That was definitely the highlight of my visit there!

No doubt the restaurant’s attractive diner setting will lure passer-bys as it’s not often we come across such a unique concept. Expect your typical standard diner fare here such as burgers and milkshakes. Don’t be surprised if the waiters suddenly line up to sing and dance as it’s part of their performance here at the diner. However, I soon found this to be quite annoying as it was difficult to talk to my friends as the music was blasted really loud and it was too frequent as they were performing at every half an hour interval. I would have preferred if they scaled it down to once every hour as it was too loud and distracting. There was nothing to shout about the burgers also as it was mediocre and prices were pretty high considering their food standards here. It was a disappointing first visit and I wouldn’t be back.

Johnny Rockets revolve around a classic american diner theme. The décor and staff attire makes you feel like you’re dining during the old times. The hospitality here is very nice and uplifting. As I stepped into the restaurant, the staff welcomed me in smiles and led me to my seat. The best and maybe funniest part of the place is the dance every half hour or an hour. Music starts blaring from the overhead speakers and the staff starts dancing for us customers to enjoy. The food here is amazing as well, with a wide range of burgers from a classic taste to a more modern taste. The patties here are what you expect, big juicy and tender patties topped with typical ingredients you find in a burger, but they done typical right. I personally liked the Houston and Smoke House. The Houston is probably the best for me as it suits my taste for hot Jalapenos and their Spicy Sauce really just wraps up the package. The Smoke House is easy to guess, topped with smoke bacon, onion rings, cheese, and smoked barbeque sauce. The sides here too are worth trying, considering the large portions. The Bacon Cheese Fries is amazing, the amount of cheese and bacon bits are generously drenced and topped and you will never regret ordering this. Also, your meal isn’t complete without your milkshake. The milkshakes here are really original and is the signature of the Johnny Rocket’s image. I recommend the Peanut Butter Chocolate, trust me.

The hype of Johnny Rockets marketing caught my attention. Every single time I scroll through my timeline a new branch opens and when that one fine day, it opened somewhere near my house, I couldn’t stand but to try it out. It was located at the curve near the Street right opposite Marché. Trust me, have you been to a fun land? Cause once you lay your foot in that restaurant it is really one. The staffs with their happy smiling faces and greeting you simultaneously as you passed them to get to your table. The food on the other hand was just«meh» but I gotta give credit for the milkshake as it is really good though! «Lucky» for one guy, it was his birthday and the way the staffs does his celebration was way«unique» compared to others. Safe to say, I could see him smiling but Im not really sure he really is: p

This diner emulates the 60’s really well. Walking in here feels like you have travel back in time to this old diner. The checkered red and white motive and smooth sleek white counter top and rounded stools helps build the theme so much more. The staffs are ever so friendly and they are all dressed in 60’s style too. More often that not, you’ll be attracted by the performances they give every hour or so throughout the day than the look or food actually. And with that it will stir that thought in your head that you want to be sitting there instead of standing thee to watch. That’s what happend to my friends and I. It was a weekend afternoon and the whole place is packed to the max and we could only get a seat on the outdoor area. It’s shaded but it is very warm because malaysia just is warm. We got a burger each and milkshakes. Of course we want the full experience of an American diner. Without the burger and milkshake it just doesn’t cut it. After the whole experience of food and performances we all decided that the food is mediocre and the milkshakes are just too expensive for what it’s worth. A place none of us have decided to visit again.

In the world of franchise driven restaurants, Johnny Rockets carved its reputation in America as one of those franchises that no American would want to go to for their lunch, dinner, breakfast, supper, or anything. It is the holocaust of bad food apparently, and the menu is well, terrible. Not in Malaysia. What demands that the Americans have on their burgers have been fulfilled in the Malaysian branch, or more specifically, The Curve branch. Riddled with a large patty for all of their burgers, it is delectable to the mouth, for the chefs who prepared the burger spared no expense to the cooking time, giving it ample time to grill and rest, thus giving the burgers a much meatier texture. I, for one, liked the Route 66 burger, as its grilled mushrooms are sautéed with light olive oil, and the mayo is rich to the taste, and along with the big beef patty, everything works together in a huge round halo, giving it a much needed boost in the flavour profile. If you are not into the burgers, you may try its pastas or any other thing on the menu, for most of the time, the sizes of these dishes are large, and will last you the whole day and night if you want to. Perhaps the only complaint will be its similarity to TGIF or Tony Roma’s; the menu is basically a carbon copy of each of these restaurants, with a few tinkering in the signature dishes and drinks. However, unlike where these franchise restaurants are originated from, the outlets here are amazingly good, and will almost never let you down, unless you are not in favour of getting a heart seizure early in your life.
