I feel that the taste of the bowl of ontama beef bowl which I had has changed since the last I had it in Oct 2015. I hope the quality can be maintained in time to come.

I always had lunch with my colleagues there. The food is nice and the location at level 3 also good and easy to find. Like the Japanese Curry very much. If you don’t like rice, you can have another choice — udon too. The concept is good as well — self service. Everyone queue for their own food.

I was tempted to give 2 Stars for what I tasted, but I still liked their concept — so 3 Stars it is. It’s very much like a canteen that you have to self-service here. For some reason, I have a certain level of obsession towards places that adapt these concept — that’s also why I like Ikea’s food hall. The restaurant looks pretty spacious in there as well, where you would clearly see two different sections when you’re there. The left side would be the rice stall where they do offer a very wide range of different rice dishes to choose from. I was having quite high an expectation when I was figuring out what to order as they did look good to me — and they serve ontama here! This is definitely one of my faves! Breaking the egg yolk and see it blend into the rice is definitely something that makes me happy. On the right side you would see the noodles stall — we didn’t order the noodles this time but from what I see from other people’s order it looked good. Also, for certain noodles, you get to add-on the ontama too! I guess it works for pretty much all dishes — at least for me. You could make your order a set by adding on green tea with either salad or miso soup, or both. I ordered the spicy yakiniku bowl with ontama, the taste however really didn’t match my expectation. It’s not really bad, but I felt that the whole rice dish is a bit too bland, and the rice wasn’t the type of Japanese short-grain rice that I was expecting either. So, to be frank, the food part was a disappointment. But, at least the ontama was good. I wouldn’t say no to coming back again if my friend actually wanted to, but I might just order their noodles the next time.

If you’re looking for a quick meal or a fan of beef noodles and Udon then definitely check this out. Decent prices and service is fast. The restaurant is a concept one as it combines both Hanamaru and Yoshinoya outlets in one place.

Whenever food converts into a fast food chain store, they always lack appeal to me because how can fast food be better than a normal Japanese food restaurant. My friends and all wanted Japanese food so I comply and we went for this one. I ordered their beef rice and was quite surprised that it cost less than RM10. Again I won’t tell you the food is superb but it is good. Ever since their revamp in interior design, it does look pretty chic in a way. And it does help in bringing more business, especially to the younger crowd due to the fair pricing.

Yoshinoya offers japanese fast food meals if you’re in need of a quick meal fix. They have a fixed small menu and i always order their teriyaki chicken set which comes with a bowl of rice and teriyaki chicken, some onions and greens and a side of drinks and soup. Tasty meals at affordable prices. Ambience and atmosphere is not the cosiest — definitely not a place you’d spend a long time in chilling with friends. Prices are very reasonable at about 10RM per meal. Their beef stir fry is also not too bad. Definitely recommend Yoshinoya if you’re looking for something fast and easy to digest yet at the same, satisfying!

Yoshinoya is a Japanese fast food restaurant serving rice-based meals in a bowl. Although it was pretty time-consuming to wait for an empty table and to queue up(it is usually always packed especially during lunch/dinner hours), the preparation time is quick so you’d get to eat in no time once you have placed your order. My colleagues and I enjoyed the signature beef rice bowl. However, I personally found that the Chicken Oyako Don was pretty bland and tasteless. Thankfully the bottle of sweet soy sauce is within reach. Prices for ala-carte meals are about RM10.

The first I tried Yoshinoya was during my trip in Japan and the reason I tried it is because of its fair price compared with others(Japan’s food are generally quite expensive) and it surprised me of how good it is. Therefore, when I saw Yoshinoya is opening in Midvalley I was so happy and went to try it on its first opening day. Yoshinoya is a fast food chain restaurant and they are famous for their beef rice bowl. You have to take your order at the counter and they will serve you the food later on. Comparatively, i still prefer the one that I had in Japan as the rice actually tasted much nicer than the one in Malaysia. However, overall the beef rice bowl still taste good as they serve good quality beef and you just have to pay once for the green tea but get free flow after that. I will definitely visit again for the beef rice bowl and its fair price.

Midvalley has a new restaurant openning at Level 3 which is Yoshinoya, just opposite of the convention center, they are newly open less than a month now, there is people to visit and so far the business looks really okay, their service is good and polite :) This japanese restaurant is mainly serving rice bowls which the recommendation I can give is their Beef bowl, the sweet and savory is all together with the meats, and also beef yakiniku teppan rice. if you don’t or can’t take beef can also try their chicken yakitori bowl, chicken hamburg and also a very simple chicken oyako don(chicken and eggs). Vegetarian not to be worry, there is something for you to try out as well :) which is their vegetable bowls, there is several types of vegetable in a rice bowls too! I would really want to try out their curry rice espcially beef and onsen egg curry rice, sounds tempting with a onsen with it: p, they also have karaage and onsen egg rice(fried chicken cube with onsen eggs). Will come back again to try out more!
