This place has amazing vegetarian food and I’m not even vegetarian! I love that they have ‘light’ options, and healthy options like brown rice and the Ayurvedic chapatis. The pranic juice and Ganga tea crush is a must try, I have no idea what’s in it but it’s super refreshing on a hot day, and is not overly sweet. Being that it is vegetarian, I would avoid the fake chicken and mutton and stick to the real vegetables.

When I saw their vegetarian buffet being advertised as one of the top ten budget buffets around, I got really excited since hubby is Vegetarian and the only other vegetarian buffets are at WTF Bnagsar and Annalakshmi. When we arrived in the area the restaurant was a little hard to find because they only had a little hand written sign to indicate who they were. Anyway the servers were really attentive and warm, asking us if we ere alright every now and then. The food really is superb and deserves the recognition it got. I like the fact that they serve puri, chappati and paratha in smaller portion circles so you can take a little of everything. There are about 6 types of deep fried dishes and an equal amount of vegetables in gravy. The dhal is really worth a try. There is coffee and masala tea free flowing as well as a sweet dessert(when I was there it was sweet Halwa).

Ganga is my favourite place to look for when I am craving for Indian food. I am not a regular customer for Indian cuisine, but I really love ganga. They provide only vegetarian food, and it’s hard for me to eat only veggie but ganga has managed to demolish this perception that Indian food are usually pretty heavy on portion and their ingredients. I usually order their Brown rice G-Lite where they will give me brown rice with papadam, veggies, few sauces, and dry chilli. I LOVETHEIR dry chilli! Plus if you are ordering the banana leaf, you can always ask for refill of your veggie or chilli without extra charge. The people working there(probably the owner as well) are the friendliest people ever! They will greet you, asking how’s your food, offering you the best drink they have(which is the«something» crush. I forgot the name, but they will definitely offer you that if you are coming there) and refill your papadam when asked. Plus price there are not so pricey, usually it will cost me around RM10 for a very heavy meal there. Will definitely come back more often to Ganga.

If you wanna try incredible and delicious indian food, then you have to go to The Ganga Café. When you think about indian cuisine you may think a very expensive, greasy, unhealthy, fat laden food… but not at Ganga’s. They offer authentic vegetarian food with the focus on health. What I liked most was the fact that they cook the food in small quantities and keep it fresh. I tried here a ayurvedic drink of 5 secret ingredients, but I cant recall the name and their Roti Chanai which is out of this world. Their prices are very resonable for Bangsar and they have awesome brunch menu especially on Sundays. It has a very homely feel and the owners are alway there ensuring that any and every request is taken care of. Sunday buffet is something we always keep going back to and a must do in our list(atlas twice a month!). Its nice to eat in a café where you feel so welcomed.

Is there such a thing as a healthy banana leaf restaurant? Yes! I love returning to Ganga because I don’t feel bloated and guilty after a meal there. Even if I eat a whole portion of rice or two capatis, everything is light and healthy. Also, all the food tastes very homemade. I personally like the chickpea masala which I like to have for lunch or the pakora for breakfast. Oh and the masala tea is divine! The owner is a lovely lady too and if she takes your order directly, you’ll feel so welcome. The only downside is they close pretty early in the night so it’s not a supper time Indian restaurant.

A purely vegetarian restaurant, the Ganga café serves wholesome, authentic Gujerati cuisine that is both delicious and nutritious. The Sunday Buffet is a great way to try out the wide spread of dishes that vary from week to week and at only RM16, it’s more than reasonable. The pure simplicity and the minimalistic take on both food and surroundings has the Ganga café reeling in the crowd and myself, a self-proclaimed meat only lover. I’d still rather go for a bucket of fried chicken, however I certainly would return for another go at their Vada Pav and a glass of Pranic Juice.
