Simple Life

We ordered 3 dishes, deep fried mushrooms, cashew red curry, and some type of noodles dish. However the noodles dish was NOT good. We tried to get a refund and the staff was very rude. Other than that, the curry was good but didn’t like that it had noodles in it. I prefer rice on the side. The fried mushrooms were the best of the three, but stingy amount, also some were just fried dough. All in all, it’s pricey and the staff are not kind at all.

Since my husband is a vegetarian, we decided on this place to give him more choices. I would say that for a vegetarian restaurant, the prices are on the high side, having eaten at numerous vegetarian spots like Tian Yian. Their signature dish is of course their green tea Hakka Lui Cha rice. However I opted for the green pesto spaghetti dish which had a strong taste of green tea.
Hubyy on the other hand had fried rice with a soy based faux meat. The rice was so so and a bit dry but the faux meat was good. Their drinks have almost no added sugar so if, like me, you’re used to mamak style milo ais, the milo ais here is amost tasteless. however I believe that is in keeping with their healthy theme.

In context of society, simple life means living a humble and simple lifestyle. But this place has a total different context. It’s a modernistic vegetarian shop with tons of Asian cooking style.
They have reasonably priced vegetarian set meals for the city dwellers who is looking for an organic place for lunch breaks. They have a good selection of noodles if you’re not keen on taking any rice. I love their Tom Yam Brown Rice Bee Hoon combination though.
This is also a great place for your tea time because they serve a big library of flower tea choices. Their organic dessert is sure to satisfy your afternoon tea breaks too.
