The banana leaf set here is AMAZING and a must try! Ravi’s has been around for the longest time as far as I remember and is very popular amongst the locals. On the outside it is very easy to spot them with their large black signboard and bright yellow font. With both indoor and outdoor seatings, it is spacious with many tables and can cater to larger groups too. The outdoor seats are also sheltered so you won’t have to worry about getting drenched if it rains while you are eating. Their teh tarik was a little bland, I think they put in too much water. There wasn’t much tea taste to it and the milk tasted a little ‘off’. I asked them to replace it and they did it without hesitation! The food comes out really fast — it is a high turnover restaurant so that is kind of expected. The basic banana leaf set meal comes with 4 different veggies and papaddam. The fried bitter gourd was my favourite dish of all — crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside — oh so yummy! They have a whole range of different curries available and I picked the chicken and mutton curry — both of which were creamy and flavourful! They also have a frying station where you can go up and pick your favourite meats and seafood and they will fry it and serve it to your table — everything here is affordable too. For my banana leaf set and teh tarik, the entire meal set me back by less than 10RM! Overall, I love Ravi’s for their outstanding banana leaf set meal and affordable prices and will definitely recommend this to any one who is in the area and looking for good indian food. I will be back for more!

Ravi’s is the premier mamak restaurant in Solaris, and caters to those who wants to pay for overpriced mamak food and then expecting to cry from the quality of food that they present over there. There is really nothing wrong with Ravi’s, as the food really tastes like your typical mamak food that you would eat from any mamak stall, with their teh ice and nasi goreng ayam not really tasting as special as others say them to be. The price itself does not justify its taste, as you could find that you might spend near to RM15 on a single pax alone, the same price as eating a footlong Subway sandwich. I will discourage anyone from coming into this restaurant, but if you do, you are dumb. Seriously. No joke.

I am a fan. They are pricey compared to the norm, but I am willing pay for it because of the delicious basic banana leaf rice set they have to offer. I have been to numerous place who doesn’t serve good vegetables but Ravi’s vegetable meal is cooked to perfection! Their green leaf dishes is so soft and mushy mixed with the right amount of dhall and I fell in love in their pumpkin chutney at the first bite. On the meat division though they flared well as well. The mutton and chicken is cooked till tender, moist and juicy and the seasoning wasn’t too heavy and taste really natural. I saw a sign saying there is no MSG used for cooking, perfect. I hate it when I feel thirsty after a unhealthy meal out. After finishing my meal with the ultimate teh ais, I would rate this place 5.5 stars for service, health, and great delicious meal.

The name Ravi’s is very famous, especially among the people who love India cuisine. They have been around for very long time, and have built up a group loyal customer — Joe and I are one of them. They were previously operating in 32 Square at Petaling Jaya, but have now moved to Solaris Mont Kiara. It’s pretty easy to spot them as the shop is right at the entrance of the main road. As you turn in from CIMB Bank entrance, you’ll be able to see the shop on your right. They are the corner unit, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating. The have a lot of staffs, so the service was quite fast and efficient. The staffs were ready to take our order the moment we sat down. We opted for them Banana Leaf Set Meal, which comes with 3 different vegetables, Papadam and Rasam. They do have fried bitter gourd and fried dried chillies, but you would have to request for these; or else they might forget to offer you. Sames goes to the Rasam too, they might not be serving you this unless you ask for it. Apart from the usual gravy — Dal, Chicken Curry and Fish Curry, they have Salted Fish Curry too but they won’t be having this daily. I prefer the Salted Fish Curry much more than the usual ones as it has more flavours to it. Alternatively, I would mix the Chicken Curry and Fish Curry together. I would recommend the Fried Squid. So far, they have pretty decent fried squid compare to some of the banana leaf restaurants. Overall, they might not be the best banana leaf in town but it’s pretty good too.

A true Malaysian will always have this sudden craving for ‘Mamak’. It is rice with mix curry sauce and spicy sauces and pick your dishes on your own such as cow’s meat/fried chicken/vegetables and many more or another true Malaysian dish is eating banana leaf, is where we do not have plates instead we are given a banana leaf as plates and the waiter will serve you vegetables, keropok and sauces. It is up to you to choose the kind of frozen meat you want and they will cook for you. One thing about Ravi’s is that be careful on the meat you order and banana leaf is pricey and i am not even sure why. 2 pax we paid about Rm30 then we checked the receipt seriously for a drink it was RM8. =.=. Bare in mind that Ravi is NOT24/7, it closes like in the evening.
