Corn in a cup. This is their signature product. I love corn so it was quite a pleasure discovering this place. You can find here corn cob, cornfish, corn juice, bubble tea, waffles, ice creams and more. The store is a Malaysia brand and has grown quite a bit over the years. The cost is fairly low so you can try different things and not worry about spending to much. The location is quite popular so sometimes you may wait a bit till your turn comes up but the staff is very pleasant and efficient.

This store was a total surprise for me. I never expected to see a stall specialised in corn products. The main signature is corn in a cup with butter and salt. I love corn, but this is the first time when I tried it with butter. They also have other types of topping like peanut butter, chocolate and jams. Yes all this with corn. A wired combination, with an interesting taste. Good, I could say. Besides the corn cups, they also have ice-cream Potong, snacks, soup and different drinks. Of course that the majority of them have corn flavour. The price for this snacks is around RM4.

Not a fan of this. I had their chocolate waffle and I was disappointed as the waffle was kinda stale. Meaning it wasn’t made fresh. Also ordered a ‘Dorayaki’ which is a Japanese rendition of a stuffed pancake filled with a sweet filling like jam, chocolate or even peanut butter. The Dorayaki was another let-down as the fillings were so little. I paid nearly RM7 for this and I was left feeling cheated. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

I’m not a big fan of their buttered corn. I’m actually not a big fan of corn in general. I don’t like the way it gets stuck to my teeth and how they are high in fiber and are rich in vitamins and minerals. Too exaggerated for a common garden vegetable in my opinion. The humungous cornstalk display on their booth hurts my eyes. What I do like at Nelson’s are their low in vitamins and mineral and high in fat waffles. Now were talking about life! They’re cooked to perfection, not one of those crispy waffles but the soft ones where they could spread a choice of your toppings be it chocolate sauce, butter, jam or peanut butter. So sedap! Another dessert that I absolutely love there are the cakes made famous by cartoon character, Doraemon which is the Dorayaki. I usually have either the chocolate or red bean ones. Either or is good with me. You know, like either fat or low in vitamins. Sometimes I get them both! Screw corn, long live Waffles and Dorayaki!

If I’m ever craving corn in a cup, I know the best place for it is Nelson’s. It’s been around for as long as I can remember and it is one of the few places whose standards have not dropped at all. It has maintained its quality perfectly. I love the buttery taste surrounding the corn. This is the part that sets Nelson’s apart from other places that do corn in a cup. Aside from this, you can also get ice cream and waffles here but honestly it tastes quite average and I don’t particularly recommend it.

I’ve been a fan of Nelson’s since I was a kid in primary school. We used to frequent their small outlet in the old Jaya Supermarket mall(now Jaya Shopping Center) in section 14, PJ. Their sweet corn in a cup is one of the best I’ve had, the lady puts just the right combination of butter and salt. Worth trying is also their waffles which are made on the spot. You can choose different toppings such as peanut butter, choc, and jams. Their also very affordable with most thing being less than RM4.

My favourite chips are actually corn chips! they always crispy and tasty and have that sweet salty taste with a crispy touch. Nelson’s have better! they have the core corns with a sweet amazing taste. it’s to die for! make sure to go by when you’re shopping and grab a snack! I absolutely loved it! The prices are decent! you won’t regret it! :)

What I like about Nelson’s is that instead of just buying one corn in a cup, you can also buy a whole packet of frozen corn. You can make your very own homemade corn in a cup! Just add butter and salt to it(for more information ask the people working there or ask Mr Google) and voila! That’s it! For years, I’ve been trying to buy packets of frozen corn to cook at home. So far, all the ones that I’ve tried(excluding Nelson’s corn) have not been up to my expectations.

Ok Malaysia is not one of the healthiest country concerning food, but this place is my discovery! In Europe I’ve never seen people selling corn in a cup, but in Malaysia it is totally a thing. And I think it is great midday snack. Super healthy and super yummy Halal food! Ok you can choose to put some salt and butter on it, maybe not so healthy in the end, but even more delicious. Another good thing is that it is really cheap! Enjoy your midday snack.:)
