This is a solid place for authentic Malaysian food in a more ‘fine dining’ sort of ambiance. A few reviews talked about the nasi lemak but I’ve never tried it — the dishes ‘from the wok’ are the standout instead! I’ve been coming here since I was ten, to both the KLCC and bangsar branches, since I visit Malaysia pretty often. My dad also recommends/drags his colleagues here whenever he’s in KL for business. Get the nasi bojari with fried chicken drumstick, sambal prawns, tri colored rice if you want an individual dish! My go to as a kid. Their chicken is fried perfectly in that it’s never overly oily or crispy, and I love the sambal and rendang. The last time I went, we ordered a few dishes with tri colored rice. I absolutely recommend the beef rendang. It’s still incredibly tender and tasty and not too mushy. Ask for more sauce and they will gladly oblige! The curry veggies and sambal veggies are also solid. I’ve also tried some noodle dishes, like the Assam laksa. I love it since I can’t find that many assam laksa stores in Singapore, but I don’t think it’s particularly outstanding in KL. We also shared iced campur and chendol on our last trip. Chendol was a firm favorite. I particularly like how it wasn’t too sweet, unless some other restaurants: they provide the sauce separate so you can add however much you wish. It’s much pricier than regular stores, so that’s why it’s not 5 stars. It’s worth it to sit down for a few hours and chill though! While the branch at KLCC is always full at lunch time everyday, there was barely anyone here when we came during a weekday lunch. The food quality is pretty consistent, so this is simply a quieter and more chill place to get your Madam Kwan’s fix!

Madam Kwan’s food is quite over priced for local cuisine. The only dishes I like are the wantons, beef cantonese noodles and the cendol. The one at bsc has horrible staff! You could look them straight in the face and they could still find a way to ignore you. It is never full so you do not need a reservation.

Looking for truly Malaysian cuisine? Well Madam Kwan is what you need. Madam Kwan was a true foodie so she decided to open a place back in 1977 where her recipes and food will be enjoyed for many years to come. The menu covers some western meals but most of the dishes are asia so you can find here a lot of «wok» dishes, fish soups, dumplings, fried rice and more. The average cost is somewhere around RM20. Also lets not forget Madam’s specialties like Nasi Lamak, curry chicken, pomfret fish and more. These dishes are somewhere around Rm15.

This restaurant in my opinion is the best place to explore Malaysian traditional food. The founder of this place has dedicated her life into developing this menu to accurately portray Malaysian food at its best. The restaurant has been open since the 70s and their goal is to bring Malaysian Cuisine to everyone who would like to enjoy the flavors. I’ve had a really nice experience there and I definitely recommend to those who would like to experience the best of Malaysian food. The outlet I have visited and really nice ambience and quick service. My favorite thing there is the chicken curry which has just the right amount of spice without being unpleasantly hot. The price is reasonable, consistent with the quality of the food and the ambience. I recommend going to this place especially if you are just arriving in Malaysia.

When I came here last year, I remembered thinking to myself — never again. I mean I love Madam Kwan and the legacy she’s created for herself, but seriously, I felt like I paid ten times more the amount of cash for food that you can get out of hawker stalls! I find the food here very ordinary, nothing that special. I literally paid RM16.90 just for their nasi lemak! I also had the mango smoothie, which nauseated me to a point of being stoned. It was thick and super rich, I could barely finish it. My experience here wasn’t so good, but I’d say give it a try just to find out all about this restaurant. It may be different for you.

This is a nice restaurant located in Bangsar Shopping Centre at the first floor. They serve both Asia &Western dishes. The restaurant is very nice decorated with an relaxing atmosphere and with good music. The staff is friendly but nit very smily. If you decide to eat here, I recommend you to try the beef Rendang, which is delicious and is cooked perfect, with the right amount of spice and rice as it should be. You can also try the delicious Nasi Bojari, which is a dish of fried rice with dry prawn curry. To be honest everything you order here you will love it. Drinks are a little priced, and I recommend you not to order the beers, because its from a can. Anyway, there are so many pubs on the ground floor of the mall, so you can enjoy here your dinner and head down for a couple of drinks. Overall: I recommend this place for a nice dinner.

Madam Kwan’s is a really really great Malaysian restaurant. if you are looking for some traditional food then this is definitely the place to go I absolutely loved it. I took prawns with vegetable dish. it was definitely a different taste for me and it was different than Indian food I’m used to take, it’s also different than Chinese food its very very different from the food that I have from the country where I come from. So I definitely recommend it for anyone who really want to taste the original traditional cuisine of Malaysia, this is definitely the right place to go. The service was not so great because the food was delayed a little bit but I guess it depends on how many people you are and what you ordered because you always have this thing where someone gets their food before the others and its just really weird, especially if you’re from a culture where you don’t actually start eating unless everyone has their food in front of them then it’s really hard to start eating specially that one person’s food gets cold while other are about to get theirs. Apart from that it was really worth going there and definitely would go there again.

Crispy Fried Chicken with Bojari Rice… delicious! They serve all kinds of malaysian delights such as, nasi lemak, onde onde and ais kacang. The best food to order in Madam Kwan’s is anything with the fried chicken in it as the chicken is very crispy and crunchy and has a unique flavour that tastes really good. The price is affordable and the service is very good and that’s why it’s one of my favourite restaurants.

I normally am not someone who would eat my Nasi Lemak, or any other of my Asian food in general in commercial places like these. The Nasi Bojari, an Indonesian original, is one of their specialties. It is Tri-colored rice served with Assam Prawns, Beef Rendang and Fried Chicken. Nothing on the plate shouts amazing, and it’s not something I would pay for at RM23.90. I ordered the Dumpling Soup and the soup was really plain and simple. I honestly don’t know what the hype for this place is about. Service is average, despite it being crowded. The atmosphere is nice and all that, but it is way too pricey for me for mediocre local food.

Ok I’m a fan of Western food and most of the time it’s what I eat. However, I think this is very unfair to live in this magnificent country and not to eat their specialty food If you’re hungry for Malay food — go for Madam Kwans! This restaurant has a very unique setting as it is quick food, but in a business like atmosphere ! I think this place has a very unique story to it, which is what made me to try it in a first place! One signature dish to try: NASILEMAK Enjoy :)
