I love Plan B. Like, seriously. The folks behind the Big Group conceptualize Plan B and Journal by Plan B. Really kudos to them for the awesome name ;p Was roaming around Republika looking for a place to eat amidst the array of choice. When I saw Journal by Plan B, the choice was made. Verdict: — Truffle Terriyaki Beef Don: Couldn’t find fault with the beef which was juicy, tender and pan-fried with Truffle Oil. The portion of the rice was generous but was too big a portion for me. Halfway through the meal, I wanted some soup. Any soup but Miso Soup would be good. However, the only had Wild Mushroom Soup on their menu. Would be really good if this came in a set meal with Miso Soup; just a suggestion. — Baked Chicken Breast: Honestly, the breast meat was overly cooked and was too tough! The sauce was tasty but the tenderness of the meat killed the entire dish. Disappointed. — Wild Mushroom Soup: Home-cooked mushroom soup with lots of mushrooms! However, the taste was a bit bland. Not complaining though as I am on a healthy streak these days Hence, this review only got 4 stars as I love the coffee here and they do a mean Lemon Meringue Tart. But, the food really left me wondering if they could have done a better job taste-wise or was it just an off day for the chef?

This café/restaurant has a really lovely interior. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, you can decide where you prefer to sit. I find it quite hot outdoors but if you sit under a fan then it’s not too bad. Chairs and sofas are comfortable too. Service here is spotty: sometimes I find the servers outstanding and other times I feel irritated by their lacklustre attitude. So I guess it depends which manager or staff is on duty? Food-wise, I have only eaten here at breakfast so can’t comment on the rest of their menu. I like their Big Breakfast, portion is huge and quality good. Although their coffee was not to my liking, as I found my latte much too milky. Again, could be just the barista on duty that day. My other favourite breakfast dish would be their Eggs Benedict which I highly recommend. Just be prepared for slow service on and off.

If you have been hanging out in publika long enough and exhaust most options — this outlet would be a great alternative hang out for you to catch up with your friends. It’s more on the quiet side., It’s slightly hidden in a far end corner of the building so you would need to know the correct direction to walk to. My friend who was with me was raving about the Blackcurrant longan cake and just so happened they had a few pieces left and oh my god. It is as delicious as it looks. I love the combination of the black currant and Longan — so unique! Apparently this cake is always sold out so good luck!

What I like most of Journal by Plan B is their interior design. It intrigued me by how they have chairs on the ceiling. A very nice concept, and one of a kind. Their menu is the same as any other Plan B though. This time around, I tried the fried mac and cheese. I expected something else when it came. It was a fried cheese ball with macaroni inside. It was something different. The service was decent, the staff were alert whenever I called them to get a new bottle of water and was friendly.

I’m not the biggest fan of plan b, but this outlet is definitely the best of the ones I’ve been to in KL! Not food wise, because normally it’s ok everywhere, but the interior is super vintage ! Moreover, their staff is so helpful! I really was impressed with such a Great service! Definitely go for their chicken salad !! It’s super yummy and not like in other restaurants serving appetizer salads. This meal will definitely fill you tummy and heart :)) Enjoy!:)

Upon the first week of opening, my friends and I went to Publika to try out this branch. They have the same offerings and the food was pretty much the same standard as their Bangsar branch. The staffs are friendly and well versed. I had a burger and it tasted no different which means that they have successfully replicated the kitchen standard. The only biggest difference is the interior design. I specifically love the shelf of vintage typewriter on it.

Contrary to what the name may suggest, this restaurant should not be the place to call when your original choice of venue has no more available tables for reservation. That’s because you should make Plan B your first option! The most distinguishable feature of the restaurant is perhaps the beautiful décor. To fully indulge yourself in the ambience, it is best to go at night for dinner. With the dramatic, low-key lighting and wooden furniture, this place could easily be a film noir set. The place has a rather generous amount of tables, and you have the option of indoor or outdoor seating. I went there with a friend after dinner(big mistake, because the menu has so much wonderful choices), for some drinks and finger foods. The onion rings and chicken chunks are scrumptious, even the fruit juice live up to its claim of being fresh, with minimal sugar. If there is one complain I have, it is the big screen TV inside that keeps playing videos on loop. It ruins the ambiance a bit. Other than that, the wait staff and services are impeccable. So, plan that night out and make that reservation! You will not need a plan B if you go to Plan B.

A rather different plan b as they have added the name journal to the name plan b, you’ll see that their decoration are a bit different too, despite of the lighting is quite gloomy too. They have a row of tvs here always showing the P. Ramlee kind of films — pretty interesting and retro eh? And i always find people really watching them tv too. So they really serve more than just decorative purpose. However menu wise this is quite the same as just other plan bs. So you can still expect the same yummy golden butter chicken here. My all time favourite will be their soft shell crab spaghetti, pretty creamy and generous portion, with a dash of spiciness and the aroma of curry leaves. Try their turkish apple tea which was launched during last year’s raya day if you’re looking for something unique!

Whenever there is a big event such as friend’s birthday parties, reunions or farewell parties, Journal is always the place my friends and I would pick. One is because we enjoy the food. Two is because of the deco where chairs are hanging by the ceiling and book shelves by the walls. If you are a kimchi lover, do try their kimchi chicken spaghettini as the flavor of kimchi is strong! I heard from my friends the must try dishes include the soft shell crab spaghetti and short rib sandwiches. But if, you just want to hang out and have a drink, may I recommend the butterscotch milk shake? Overall, the food and ambience is really great; however the service is a little slow and as sometimes the waiter/waitresses do not approach your table as you have to keep looking for them!
