I went there on a Sunday night. My first two choices for starters were not available. I order the steak and tuna steak. After 20 minutes, we are still waiting for our food/starters. Then the waiter returns to tell me that the tuna is frozen and it will take an hour to defrost. My wife and I just walked out. So technically, this is not a good review but a service service. I’d avoid this place.

Just when you thought things were going to be dull at the backstreets of changkat bukit bintang, a breath of fresh air comes by. Welcome to Calavera, your Latin– American inspired bar & restaurant along Jalan Mesui. I’m surprise this place didn’t have a piñata outside as it’s as Mexican as Mexican can get! With the orange walls, skull decorations & wooden tables, it truly gives you the Mexicana feel! I came by Calavera on a Saturday night as a friend was performing that night as part of the live band. The whole restaurant was overwhelmed with the aroma of some sort of grill they were cooking. I didn’t have anything to eat though as we just stopped by for some drinks & show some support. I had the classic margarita which was the real deal unlike those watered down stuff you get elsewhere. A big mistake in not ordering anything as it sure did smell good, I guess I’ll have to head back there again. I like the whole feel of the place, as you can choose to have an al fresco dining outside or to sit in the casual dining area. The staff are friendly and cheerful, just one thing though, I didn’t quite like the washroom arrangement. To use the washroom you have to go up a narrow spiral old fashion staircase where you end up directly at a row of cubicles, very cramped & dangerous when its crowded and of course when you had a few to drink!

Calavera is one of my favourite places to go on weekend for a drinks and a talk with my friends, therefore I’m coming here very often. I think that the place is quite expensive, but the atmosphere is great. The decorations are inspired from the«Day of the Death» and everything is design in this theme. I love the cocktails because they are unique and they serves them in a jar which is interesting. Another great thing is the fact that every Wednesday they have Ladies Night with amazing free cocktails, between 10 and 12 pm. A 3rd great thing is that almost every Friday they have a live band playing. Last week was Bechamel Mucho which sings amazing Spanish — French songs. The staff is also very nice and they speak perfect English. The only downside is the fact that is very noisy and if you come with a big group it would be hard to hear each other.

I have mixed feelings about this bar. Although being Latina and missing the Latino vibe, this place doesn’t really do it for me in that sense. The ambience is very nice with the Mexican theme and the place looks really cool. But I find the music too loud making it nearly impossible to have a conversation. The prices of the drinks are quite high even when compared to other bars in the neighborhood and quite often I find that they are understaffed so you might wait a bit by the bar to get served.

I am always super excited to try out new spots for going out! I accidentally discovered this please called Calavera! My friends were actually playing over there and I just wanted to support them and in the end I did not want to leave the place, because they played amazing live music and the bar was beautifully decorated! It is a big open space where you can even dance if you want &it’s not overcrowded! It is a little pricey, but go ahead, be adventurous and try the weirdest sounding cocktail! :) warning: if you’re really don’t like eggs, make sure to ask a waiter if the cocktail doesn’t contain it, because it is not mentioned in a menu.

Pretty disappointed with this place. Considering the weird/funky ambience of the place, we decided to give this place a go on our night out in Changkat. Their menu is pretty limited in terms of their main meals and definitely isn’t a place for a vegetarian to go. Service was beyond terrible, we waited for more than an hour food some of our food. Even after telling the waiters this, our food took the longest time to show up. I ordered the fish tacos which seemed to consist of more of the sauce and the vegetable slaw as opposed to the actual fish slices.

The setting of this restaurant is really interesting, whether it is good or bad depends on your preference for their art. I didn’t really appreciate it because the walls are filled with paintings and pictures that are quite creepy. Although, the theme of this bar is set around the day of the dead and is suppose to be creepy yet cool. They have a really interesting skeleton light hanging from the ceiling. The food there is on the average side but people generally go there for the drinks. Their drinks are nothing out of the ordinary; you have your beer, red and white wines etc. However, the reason I’m not big on this place is because their service is really bad. We waited for over an hour for our food and when it finally came, it didn’t really satisfy all that much. So, if you are planning on going there just do drinks and enjoy the atmosphere if you like the concept of this place.

I love this place. The deco and interior is very rustic and artsy which makes Calavera stands out a little more from the rest. Its got a burst of colors, spooky yet funky skulls, rustic tables and benches and cool pictures and paintings on the walls and a dash of latin. Drinks and food are very reasonably priced and they’ve got a funky cocktail menu too offering drinks such as green Ozone Layer(RM32) which is made with gin, avocado, green tea syrup & lemon(green tea + avocado=superrr nyumms), Mexicans of Asia(RM28), a mix of tequila, agave, ginger tea, egg white & calamansi and is garnish with curry leaves and many other interesting drinks. I have not tried the food there but according to friends reviews, food there is pretty awesome! The serve breakfast too. They’ve also live performances during the weekends. I was able to catch Nacho de Cantos feat Rozz and Sevtech, they were very entertaining and played a wide range of music(different genres) I could not stop moving and was having a lot of fun on the dance floor! Calavera is also a great place for making new friends. People are more laid back, easygoing and it seemed pretty easy to strike up conversations with them! I like making new friends and learning about other people i think its fun! This is definitely the place to be if you’re up for some booty shaking, funky drinks, meeting new people or simply to just have fun!
