Went over after work a couple of months back. Food was average. The decoration, menu, how they packed the fork and spoon and how they served the food was quite unique and brought back a lot of memories back from the primary schooling days. Good place to catch up with friends and looking back our school days.

If you wish to back to your school life, Ecole P will be a dining place you should go to! Remember, you must bring your school mates together. For sure, I bet you can find back a lot of memories that you have left behind for years. Ecole P is a school-themed restaurant/café which is located at Damansara Uptown. It is at first floor. Thus, when walking up the stair, you are able to see the paintings and decorations on the wall. It seems you are travelling back to school time. The restaurant look alike to classroom. Well, I miss my school desk, school bag, canteen, etc… All things there just bring back all the school memories in a second. You and your friends will definitely talk about how the school time was, you like or hate which subject, more and more as long as you have been going to school. Ecole P serves its customers with western food and desserts. My dear and I ordered fish and chips and fried chicken chop. Both have a very thin crispy layer, and the meats were juicy. The fish was fresh. I love its tartar sauce, I wonder is it homemade by Ecole P. We ordered their mocktails, they tasted great! As a theme café, I think Ecole P has a reasonable price range. You are free to take as many photos as you can. You can buy some of the items there, but there are also some were meant to be display only. Make sure you put those items back before leaving the restaurant.

Ecola P is one of those shops in Uptown where it resembles the middle child of all the restaurants; belittled, and always in the wrong place at the wrong time as it is located right beside the famous Village Park restaurant… On the second floor. That is, without a doubt, a serious flaw. Despite that though, their food is pretty decent. I liked their Hainanese Chicken Rice, which tasted like the ones that you would taste in Melaka(or not). The drinks are decent, and the ambience is pretty much atypical of all restaurants in town. That is not to say this is bad. I am giving this an extra star so as to allow humans to try this restaurant. I mean, come on, it is located so high up, you can’t even see the surface.

Well on Saturday my friend and I decided to pay Ecole P a visit for our very first time of our life’s. I would strongly recommend this place to people who would like to experience a BACK-TO-SCHOOL Experience. All I can say is Ecole P did it right. Not that we got that out of the way, let’s discuss a bit about their services and their food. At first I was really stoked to try out their tea. I ordered their Earl Grey Tea, and based on my past experiences drinking tea I was pretty sure they did not know how to make their tea well. They made their tea so very thick and it was very bitter, compared to how tea is supposed to be served. On this particular day I was not feeling hungry, therefore I did not get anything to ear, but I did a slight tasting session on what my friend ordered and I was relatively disappointed. The fish was rather dry, and they were quite stingy with the source topping that they served and the flavour of the sauce was not at all mind blowing as the review I have read on it. That being said, the staff there are all so friendly. I will give that to them. An A+ for service. But for food and tea I am sorry to say it is a no for me.

Sometimes you just want to try some place new for the sake of trying. And this the place I went just recently last week. The funny looking word that made up the shop name couldn’t stop my friend and I to wonder what does it mean. Thanks to google, ecole is a French word that means education. My friend and I had our eyes lit up as we discovered the meaning of the word because it made so much sense due to the fact that the whole decoration of the shop looks like a school with classrooms. The tables and chairs are definitely bought from an existing school because they are all showing signs of a typical school wear and tear scars. There’s a notice board with results, exam papers and pictures of patrons having a good time at the premise. There’s a blackboard with nice chalk drawings and little school bags hanging on the side of the tables. The counter itself looks like a canteen and their menu comes in exercise books with clever indication of food names and drinks that sounded like you’re back in school. The food isn’t of anything to shout about and the coffee is mediocre. My friend had a drink that totally resembles of what our local schools serve. Her drink came in a plastic bag with a straw and string tied to it. If there’s anything cool about this place, it’s definitely the experience of the decoration that brings you back into your childhood classroom.

There are many cafes or restaurant with the«back to school» concept, but I think Ecole P at Damansara Utama really did a good job in bringing back a lot of memories for me. The have put in a lot of thoughts in their décor — old school kettle, Rukun Negara on the wall, old school candies, menu made of notebook, and they even serve the utensils in a pencil box inside a school bag. Cute! The space is quite limited, so you might have to sit at the open air area if you go in a big crowd. I had the Claypot Fried Rice with Seaweed. The fried rice was served lid-on, and the fragrance hit me the moment I opened up the lid. I couldn’t wait to try out the dish. The fried rice was flavourful and I loved how it was filled with mushrooms and tender smoked chicken. I went there with my mom, and she had the Hainanese Chicken Rice. Compared to the Claypot Fried Rice, the chicken wasn’t as good. It tasted just like normal chicken chop. Usually I would avoid having coffee over dinner as I’m worried the caffeine might keep me awake all night. However, I could resist ordering the coffee when the aromatic coffee scents hit me while they were making it. The coffee was pretty good and I liked how it was served in an old school kopitiam mug. I can’t really comment much on the food as I’ve only tried 2 dishes from there, but I’ve heard good reviews on them from my friends too. As for the pricing, I would say it’s slightly expensive.
