Turn to the Indian closest to you and ask them what they miss about food at home other than their mothers food and I am sure 90% of them will name one or more street foods. And I think above all street foods we are especially protective and passionate about our pani puris. Now I hope you understand the rest of the review better. Mumbai Delights. What do you think when you hear the name? Tantalizing chat, piping hot vada pav, piquant pav bhaji, perhaps some kutchi dabeli? Well I would say go there and be disappointed. The place gets one star for its location and clean open ambience. The menu reads like a dream but before you start building up your hopes please ask them what is actually available. We ordered a pani puri, dahi puri, papdi chat and Misai pav to eat and a thandai to drink(as pictured). What came: a thin watery iced milk concoction with unidentifiable pieces of some dried fruit. A tiny plate(we were paying nearly RM7 or more for each dish) of crushed stale and nearly soft papdi smothered in yogurt with drippings of tamarind sauce. 5 puris with tamarind sauce and less than half a bowl of the green water(the essence of pani Puri). The water had NO flavor and had a hair in it. The dahi puri were the same as the papdi chat. The misal pav though watery with stale pav was perhaps the only thing worth eating. When we asked the uninterested servers to change the pani puri water(yes the one with the hair in it) took them 15 mins or more! By that time the puris we soggy. I don’t know about any other food but my experience here was very bad. I don’t think I will be going back again. Not in a hurry. Pani puri is sacred. Don’t mess with it if you can’t make it and at least smile or be a bit more interested in what your customer is asking for.
